Battle Angel Alita: Last Order Review ✅
The Last Order has so much going for it! Yukito Kishiros strengths are on full display with his amazing and fluid art looking better than before, great fight choreography and dope cyborg designs that were beautiful, grotesque and everything in between. Kishiro continues to dive deeper into the post human philosophy and what it means to be “alive” which i always enjoy! Alita also experiences a lot which helps her turn into a layered and more compelling protagonist. The world building is also vast and intricate which helps with feeling immersed in the story!
That being said, there were some things that couldve been done a little differently. For example the tournament arc. It felt like we got side tracked from the tourney many times with lengthy flashbacks and side plots which lead to the pacing feeling a little slow. Those flashbacks and side plots ARE relevant but i think they couldve been integrated in the story differently.
An epic expansion that is worth reading for readers who crave more of Alita’s universe. It’s not as focused or emotionally raw as the first series, but its broad scope, wild action, and sci-fi depth make it a must read for hardcore fans. If you loved the original’s world, Last Order expands on that in a grand way! It also sets up Mars Chronicle perfectly which i’ll be reading soon!
