@espn Ban @TheSergioGarcia from the Masters permanently. His childish behavior cannot be tolerated.

The Masters rules and competition committee chairman issued Sergio Garcia a code of conduct warning following an incident on the 2nd hole Sunday. Garcia also picked up Jon Rahm’s golf bag while Rahm’s caddie tended to a bunker.
Garcia smashed his driver and will not be able to use the club for the rest of the Final Round. #TheMasters

@THPGolf @DaxJeter @hatchgolfco I’m all for 2nd chances when mistakes are made but Tiger has used up his 2nd chance and several other peoples as well. When will he take out a child with his drug problem?
English

@drumdog98 @DaxJeter @hatchgolfco If that were the case, a very large number of athletes would be removed from sports in general.
He made a mistake, a few times.

PGA Tour posted on their webpage a heavily redacted AP report but made sure that this was in it: "Woods’ manager at Excel Sports did not immediately respond to a text message seeking information."
Still, no official comment from PGAT management.

Tiger Woods is facing an addiction monster that devours millions of people in this country, and yet everything and everyone around him seems to just want to keep the whole charade going. Without a true reckoning, this is headed for a dark outcome. @CzabeCast @andypollin1

@harryarnett Tiger has to be removed from golf and kept from driving permanently. He brings shame on the golf world and endangers the public with his drug filled driving.

I feel like the timing of this article is a bit off. It may just be me, but I wouldn’t have released this story…especially this week.
This coming from a huge fan of Tiger- the golfer who pulled me to the game of golf later in life. His off the course issues, specifically those that have broken the law and could have inflicted harm upon others, need to be considered when we talk about his generational impact. I don’t like writing that- I don’t like thinking that - but it’s clearly a compounded issue now.

🚨It’s been a couple of days now and there’s still a lot of unknowns surrounding Tiger’s accident. The charges against him are obviously very serious.
We have yet to see the police report or body cam footage (if it exists). Even more notably, we still haven’t gotten a statement from Woods / his team like we got quickly in the past. Surely there’s probably a lot going on behind the scenes. We still don’t know when we see Tiger next (Masters) or if he disappears for months. Both scenarios wouldn’t entirely shock me.
Came across a legal opinion on ABC’s affiliate in West Palm Beach, outlining some of the items at play. Thought it was interesting so I’m sharing it and will link the full article below in the comments. (Via @WPBF25News)
Please note this is purely informational and this is also just one persons opinion. I’ve seen other opinions saying otherwise. Also, I’m not a lawyer and not pretending to be one and just because we’re TW fans, we do acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and what’s at play here as this could have been a much different outcome.
▫️The DUI Charges against him might not hold up in court according to Tarlika Nunez-Navarro, the dean and professor of Law at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens. The former Florida judge said there are a number of items at play in his case…
▫️“Florida DUI law requires proof of impairment — not just signs of impairment. Without a urine test, there is no chemical evidence of what substance was in his system or at what level. The prosecution will have to rely entirely on the officer's observations — lethargic appearance, field sobriety test performance — and Woods' lawyers will counter every single one of those observations with his documented medical history.”
▫️His existing injuries “can explain lethargic appearance and poor physical performance on roadside tests without any impairment at all.”
▫️“Florida law requires that a DUI suspect be held for eight hours OR until they register under 0.05 on a breathalyzer — whichever comes first. Woods blew 0.00. He should have been released within hours, not held the full eight hours. His lawyers may file a motion challenging the lawfulness of the detention itself. If the detention was unlawful, anything that happened during that time — statements, observations — could be suppressed.”
▫️ "Refusing a urine test in Florida triggers an automatic one-year license suspension and a separate criminal charge. But — it may have been the strategically correct decision. If Woods had taken the test and it showed prescription medication at therapeutic levels, prosecutors could still argue impairment. By refusing, his lawyers created reasonable doubt on the substance question entirely. The refusal charge carries less weight than a positive drug test in a DUI conviction.”
▫️ Woods was never actually convicted of DUI in 2017 (was reduced to reckless driving) “Prosecutors may not be able to use the 2017 case to trigger enhanced penalties because the conviction was for a different offense. His lawyers will argue this is legally his first DUI conviction.”
Many unknowns right now. We wish the best for Tiger as a person and hope he gets whatever he needs to get better in every aspect. Also very thankful he’s alive and that nobody else was hurt as a result of the crash.
