This is really interesting and enlightening, partly because it looks at football analysis in a slightly different way. espn.com/soccer/story/_…

@NathanAClark So Sarr’s naivety was the bigger issue I guess. But Romero simply staying in his position would negate it all. If he’s playing zonally then just stay in your zone surely?! If I had done what Romero did in my old team, and not bust a gut to get back, I’d have been screamed at 🤬

@drupalcentricuk No need for Sarr to leave his man and pick up Danso's imo. Romero not busting a gut to pick up a zonal role should not be fatal.

When you watch the second goal back you realise it’s mostly Romero’s mistake, trying too hard to make an impact on the game. Sarr should be checking his shoulder and realise GW has dropped into space so he can go and press him. And Romero should be talking to him to tell… 1/2

Balance is my favourite word 🤓 Romero is imbalanced! Two kids in centre midfield is imbalanced! Put Romero and the kids together and you get panic. Stick Bergvall right wing with Gray and Sarr and not only is an unfit Bergvall out of position, you now have 3 kids in midfield.

But the half time subs killed the game for me, and Romero’s actions compounded it. If anything Sarr was holding his position in front of the back four. If Romero had held his position they don’t score!

Shock horror, we go to 4-4-2, lose the man-to-man marking, and we’re competitive!! Stick to that we crawl to safety 💪🏻 #coys

I was despondent before the game, now I’m just depressed! Xavi has stepped up in the past few games and Solanke has qualities but the rest, in this formation and tactics stink! 😞 #coys

@MrCracknell This corporation believe in giving him time, and he’ll be here for weeks yet. They don’t see what we see and don’t understand what we want!

I'd sack him at halftime and make that arsenal paper cup interim manager. Could it be any worse ?

@hbrooks_coach Gallagher is another ball carrier like Xavi and Sarr! Who needs someone to pass the ball when you can run with it. Completely opposite to Arthur Rowe’s push and run 😞 @BardiTEI @LastWordOnSpurs

Gallagher is a top level player. If you need that profile, he’d be high on many teams list. Comfortable on the ball moreso than people care to admit. Always reliable (huge with how many players are careless with basics and foundational stuff). Insane engine and desire. Box to box. A relentless and smart presser. And can play ahead of the ball and score goals. But…the profile isn’t different enough to what Spurs already have. They need ball players who get that ball forward and breaking lines. That’s not Gallagher profile. So the argument is to sign that AND Gallagher. But then it falls back into what I hate so much about modern football. Fat, rich clubs just signing the next player rather than committing and working with what they brought in. What does this say and do to Gray? Bergvall? Sarr? Brilliant young players who all have similar assets in many ways to each other, and don’t necessarily balance each other out. So what now. You just cast Sarr aside? Bergvall? Gray? Ew. I love Gallagher. I do not love the process that’s led to this.

As it’s new year, here’s the Luka Vuskovic analysis, completely free to view. Worded as if we were sending it to him direct. As discussed on the brilliant @LoveTheShirt podcast…the lad is special. patreon.com/posts/analysis…

@footballconfid1 @hbrooks_coach Having listened to the podcast, which was excellent @hbrooks_coach he could easily play number 6 or in a back three that would allow all the centre backs to carry the ball out and find a line breaking pass! But maybe that’s too risky for Frank.

@drupalcentricuk @hbrooks_coach Think whoever is the manager next season, they need to start building the team around the young talent. Maybe not start them all immediately but I’d like to see a clear plan to get Vuskovic in at the back, Bergvall and Gray in front as the 6 & 8, and LWB & Moore in the front 3.
