The year is 1950. Your doctor lights a cigarette and tells you smoking is fine. He read it in a study. He is telling the truth about having read it. He does not know, or is not saying, that the study was funded by the tobacco industry. The year is 1958. Your doctor tells you to eat less fat. The evidence is contested. The contestation is not in the public messaging. The food industry has been helpful in clarifying which findings deserve attention. Some researchers who published contradictory data have been quietly defunded. Ancel Keys is on the cover of Time magazine. The year is 1962. Your doctor prescribes thalidomide to your pregnant wife for morning sickness. It has been approved. The FDA gave it the green light in Europe. Twelve thousand children will be born with severe limb malformations before anyone in an official capacity acknowledges the problem. The families are told the drug was safe. The drug was approved. Both of these things remain true. The year is 1972. Your doctor prescribes Valium. Britain is in the grip of a benzodiazepine wave that will last two decades. The dependency risk is known internally. It is not shared. Your doctor is not lying to you. He was not told either. The year is 1999. Your doctor prescribes Vioxx for your arthritis. It is newer than ibuprofen, well-tolerated, and Merck has a study showing it works. Merck also has internal data suggesting it roughly doubles the risk of heart attack. This data will not reach your doctor for four more years. Fifty thousand people are estimated to have died in the interim. Merck eventually settles for 4.85 billion dollars. No criminal charges are brought. The year is 2002. Your doctor prescribes OxyContin. Purdue Pharma trained its sales representatives to tell doctors the addiction risk was less than one percent. That figure came from a letter, not a study. The letter was about patients with terminal cancer on short-term doses in hospital settings. Your doctor is a GP with a patient who has a bad back. Nobody draws a distinction. Nobody is required to. The year is 2008. Your doctor checks your cholesterol. Your LDL is elevated. You are prescribed a statin. Nobody mentions that the number needed to treat for primary prevention is approximately 250. Nobody mentions that the muscle deterioration you'll notice over the next two years is listed as a rare side effect rather than a documented pattern affecting a meaningful percentage of patients. The trial that informed the prescription was funded by the manufacturer. Now it is today. Your doctor has new guidelines. New studies. New consensus. He is confident. He has always been confident. The confidence has never been the problem. The confidence is, in fact, precisely the problem.

@mattvanswol @naomirwolf It’s your choice to live the fake life. I left my job, my city, my ‘friends and moved to an old house with a garden and chickens and hang out with farmers and small biz friends. We barter—and help each other.

I think I know why everything sucks... ...and it's because everything is fake We are getting fake college degrees that cost 4 years and six figures that teach you fake education and get you fake jobs. We are eating fake food, with fake ingredients, funded by fake research. We are scrolling through fake lives, with fake relationships, who take fake, curated vacations to promote brands that make fake products. We are voting for fake candidates, who run on fake promises, inside a fake system that was never designed to fix anything. We are raising kids in fake schools that teach fake history, fake science, which quietly produce fake adults who can't think for themselves. We are watching fake news, about fake crises, produced by fake journalists, for fake outrage. We are borrowing fake money that was printed from nothing, to fund a fake economy that would collapse in an afternoon if people stopped pretending it was real. We are buying fake organic food that's just a paid label, and drinking fake juice with two percent juice in it, and putting fake cheese on cheeseburgers that's just "cheese product" on fake burger meat. We are donating to fake nonprofits where the moeny never makes it to the people and then funding fake foreign aid that buys real weapons to prop up fake governments. We are going to fake therapy that teaches fake coping skills instead of telling you hard truths. We are buying fake furniture made of fake wood that's actually compressed sawdust and glue that looks like wood, ships in fourteen boxes with instructions written in a fake language that isn't quite any language, requires tools it doesn't include, takes 4 hours to build, wobbles on day 1, and is totally destroyed in 6 months. We are downloading fake "free" apps that charge a subscription after three days for AI features that don't work, hidden behind a paywall we didn't see, protected by a privacy policy we didn't read, buried inside Terms of Service written by lawyers specifically so we wouldn't read them, that we agreed to by tapping a button the size of a thumbnail, that gave a company we've never heard of the right to sell our data to companies we'll never hear of, to build a profile on us we'll never see, to influence decisions we'll never know were made. IT. IS. ALL. FAKE. And we all yearn for what was once real. Don't you remember? Did you forget? There was a time with a simple handshake between men was a contract. When bread went stale because... well, that's what real bread does! When kids played outside all day until it was dark, and nobody tracked them. When a family could live off a single income. When music was made by people who LIVED something real and you could feel it. When schools was HARD... and that was the point! When doctors knew your name and your family, they even came to your house, When you bought something once... and it was yours forever. When the chair your grandmother bought once lasted 70 years and she passed it onto your dad. And now nothing is real, and that's why everything sucks.

The senate reminds me of Biden—constantly doing nothing but lolling on vacation licking ice cream cones. What a bunch of lazy schmucks.

“Eat Real Food” “Remove bad chemicals” “No junk food in hospitals” These are all common sense super low hanging fruit messages under the guise of “wins” to divert attention far and away from the vaccine conversation. You need to understand this. It is easy “good guy” messaging meant for your agreement, satisfaction, and approval — there’s nothing to argue against — but it’s actual purpose is to stall the vaccine conversation until it’s buried and gone.

@MrSausageGet @barnes_law We’re depressed and divided because the media are telling us that is how we should feel. And it is CONGRESS that has betrayed this country. They think we serve them. I will remain an independent because this ‘system’ is incompetent, captured, and corrupt.

The reason the people are depressed and divided is because Trump betrayed the nation. We were supposed to be sitting pretty with mass deportations, a surging economy and falling inflation, covid accountability, secure elections, mass arrests, etc. etc.

@RWMaloneMD What? No appeal??? ACIP/CDC/WhoEverRunsTheShow is not appealing this judge's ridiculous (and possibly unlawful) decision?

ACIP has been disbanded. The government’s response to the AAP lawsuit and judge Murphey’s injunction is to disband and then recreate a new ACIP committee, as this will take less time than would be required to file and prosecute an appeal. There will be no action from the government to respond to the defamatory characterization of the former ACIP members.

BREAKING: The CDC is moving to officially recognize COVID-19 vaccine injury with a new ICD10 code. T50.B25x: Adverse effect of COVID-19 vaccines. No code existed. No tracking. No accountability. That changes now. This is a major win for the injured. Recognition begins. Truth follows. Public comment period opens soon. Make your voice heard.

Whoever leaked the confidential draft ACIP report ahead of the meeting - did more damage to the vaccine injured and to righting harms done now and in the future, than anyone could possibly imagine. In addition to that, there is a cascade of unintended consequences playing out now and I have no idea where it all goes... but nowhere good.
