Canon is a banger! I devoured this novel! If you grew up on Indiana Jones and reading Nat Geo cover to cover like I did, switch things up and meet Dr. Meg Denton, archaeologist, explorer and all around woman who knows how to get things done. She's also fearless and has some serious skills when it comes to reading and translating ancient Mayan messages. You will feel like you're in the jungles of Central America. I first heard the premise of this contemporary adventure novel during a snowstorm, stuck at an airport in the middle of nowhere, PA and suddenly we are off talking about jungles, Belize and ancient treasure maps. It was worth the wait. From bad guys with machetes, a seer with a mysterious background, to the dirty dealings of people who trade in ancient and sacred artifacts of old, the story unfolds and it's chock full of Mayan magic, history and images of a great civilization that understood the mystical and the brutal cost it takes to appease the gods and to literally, start time. There is a little bit of violence and a smidgeon of sexy meet cutes, but that only enhanced a well-written and totally entertaining story that will keep you guessing until the very end. I can't wait for the next one. What an awesome debut!

Hope isn’t blind optimism — it arises in the face of uncertainty. If you look at our history, we’ve gone through some rough patches. But we tend to come out on the other side of them stronger than before.

Yes! You nailed it. Agents seem to have a herd mentality. One year it’s werewolves or vampires or romantic fantasy. They seem to look for the genre that’s en vogue at the time rather than the merits of the story. You can write a great book, but if it’s not on their “lists”—too bad.

The one time I was late getting the Covid vaccine booster, I contracted Covid. It turned into long Covid. Pneumonia, extreme fatigue, and finally Acute Renal Failure requiring dialysis. Thankfully, I recovered after two months in the hospital. As soon as I was able I got the vaccination and I will get the new boosters as soon as they are available.

@DrNeilStone Nope. I was healthy until age 40. I got the Covid vaccine and since then I have had heart problems, pulmonary problems.
