@kevezell @markspence02 Truly, the loyalists are modern Nehemiahs.. doing such important work.. like writing a book about, erm, noticing people (🤨) that they can't be bothered by corruption. Thankfully they do have time to belittle people angered by corruption though. x.com/dschadt/status… (8/)

@deaninserra @merelyjwright Can you imagine, Dean, how far you have to be disconnected from real life actual pastoring to not understand how much of a waste of time doing a trial like that would be? Mind boggling.

@merelyjwright They are now turning evidence over to the “jury” for a “verdict” and “damages” to be assessed. Absolutely bizarre.

This is a helpful comment. Clarifying. Notice that @NAMB_SBC can't go to court because they say so. But also they can't seriously be subject to Christian mediation either. Because that's just silly. The Company Men always play Heads I Win, Tails You Lose.
Dean Inserra@deaninserra

@merelyjwright Thanks for the K. Trustees start Monday and Tuesday and that’s when they report the info from the previous year. It was also why the timing of the mock trial/kangaroo court fest, not the other way around.

Getting 10-15K steps in per day is actually way harder than you'd expect. You have to be intentional in order to do it. Any hacks or ways some of you do this consistently?

For reasons I can never explain, I struggle tremendously to write my Easter and Good Friday messages. It’s like scheduled brain block. And I’m there again.

One of the big challenges I've embraced working with @monolithmvmt is getting 7-9 hours of sleep each night. I've had 25+ years of 6-6.5 hours of sleep per night. But it's been great to get this kind of coaching and new habits.

As Holy Week begins, some encouragement for my fellow pastors... 1. It's a big week, but it's not everything. Take a deep breath, do your best, and be faithful. 2. Create a special family moment at some point. It's a very public weekend, but taking even just a few minutes to pray or celebrate as a family can make it feel less performative. 3. Do a really good version of what you normally do. It's less about creating a decisive moment and more about laying groundwork for people to return. 4. Enjoy Jesus in front of people. Some guests may not yet delight in him, but they should see that you do. 5. Love the volunteers. We should always do this, but many people give a lot of extra time to serve Jesus this weekend. Show them some love. 6. Find your inner extrovert, at least for a few hours. Shake a ton of hands, give hugs, kneel down to give high fives to kids. The people at your church want you to meet their friends, so get after it. 7. Afterward, thank your people for inviting friends. Especially celebrate those who invited somebody but the friend didn't come — those people are just as faithful, and it's worth encouraging them. 8. Rejoice with your fellow pastors. When you see that other churches had a ton of guests or baptisms or decisions, rejoice! Don't let the enemy win by giving into envy. 9. Preach the gospel with stunning clarity. Don't be too cute, and don't try to innovate. Christians and non-Christians both need the good news of Jesus' resurrection. Make it clear and preach it confidently. 10. Soak it up with appreciation. There was a time early in your life when you only dreamed about an opportunity to preach & lead like you get to do now — what a privilege! There will be a time someday when you don't get to do this any more — soak it up while you can! Pastors, with God's help, you've got this! You're the man for this moment. Trust him and have fun!

This Easter, I invite you to look at Jesus, consider what he said and did, and ask for yourself what I believe is the most important question you will ever answer: Did he really leave behind an empty tomb? And if he did, what does that mean for you? This video was made possible and in collaboration with my friends at @ChildlikeMedia.

Pastors: what is the one thing you wish your seminary had trained you to do that you had to learn the hard way in ministry?

PSA for public speakers and pastors. You do not need to use the foam windscreen on your headset mic. With a good mic and good positioning it’s not necessary. I use a DPA 4466 Core+ currently.

I look forward to supporting Josh. Known him 20+ years, and worshipped alongside him in an Israeli bunker. He loves the word, missions, & the church. Represents a new generation of leaders.

The presidency of the SBC is a stewardship. I have been raised by Southern Baptists, shaped by Southern Baptists, and educated by Southern Baptists. It is my privilege to serve alongside other Southern Baptists for the sake of the Great Commission. A short video and article…

If you are a younger minister of the gospel, don't sleep on the soft skills that are required for influence. Yes, preaching, teaching, and theology are indispensable. But don't neglect things like: Reading the room Writing handwritten notes Picking up on social cues Eye contact
