Whoever needs to hear this: THERE ARE NO BLUESKY TOKENS if you see a fake account "BlueskyApp" selling tokens its just another muskrat-verified fake. The real bluesky app uses ATProto and does not sell tokens. Ask around for an invite, is much cooler than here.

Twitter's funding of Bluesky is not subject to any conditions except one: that Bluesky is to research and develop technologies that enable open and decentralized public conversation.

You can use domain names as handles in Bluesky! Here’s why we’ve designed the AT protocol to let you join a social network with a domain name as your handle. blueskyweb.xyz/blog/3-6-2023-…

But the penalty for being wrong is near zero. You can migrate to a different instance and drag all your followers along with you. This is maybe the single coolest feature of Mastodon; lock-in is engineered out. The Masto community needs to do better at getting this message across

The absolutely worst part of the onboarding is when you are asked to pick a server, when you still don't have any idea what the consequences of that decision are Start with a server that your friends are on already and that's still open to signups You can move elsewhere later

A fun detail of @at_protocol is that we use IPLD for the signed data repositories, which means you can export your data in a .car file and explore it using the IPFS cli tool Here is drilling down to an individual record from the top:
