@jordysparks @DKriedeman @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki I’m in -2019 here we come #CultureConvosAtTheCup.

A lot to think about here. @jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki We can't leave this T responsibility out of our cultural conversations. What is worth measuring?

Nearly 3 years since I wrote this “uncomfortable” piece. And while we are still making questionably qualified decisions about our grading, I feel like the needle has moved towards more learner-considerate practices. Why? Connected conversations among Ts. edutopia.org/discussion/unc…

@jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki It is an exciting and pivotal time. I'm honored to be a part of the conversation. In reflecting about our starts and stops over the years, I see collective vision as something that has not been developed.
English

@dswank40 @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki That’s what WE (you, me, and everyone else) must want!
I also appreciate the idea that a collective vision must be developed first, as well as how to assess the impact of said vision, in order to drive effective conversations among all educators.
I can get down with that!

@jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki If the message is felt as an opportunity to cultivate improvement then WE are on that inclusive path.
English

@dswank40 @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki Agree!
Except, I would replace “mandate” w/ “cultivate” & suggest that if we commit to using specific time intentionally, + the other times you mention, we build capacity to take the work & practice beyond the meeting & Ss would benefit.
But I get your point loud & clear.

@jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki That is possible for sure. And much more of a whole system of improvement message. Thanks for engaging. I love the path WE (OUSD #Osideway) are on.
English

@dswank40 @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki Perhaps a PLC could be a place to grow the skill/practice to be taken outside and into the culture on a daily basis?

@MonteSyrie @jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki Thank you as well. Have a great Sunday. Love the inspirational messages.
English

@jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki If the stakeholders that are a part of PLC see value in the created aims then the places where time is available- PLC, articulation hours/days, half Tuesday's, days before school begins, etc. will enable the necessary and inspiring work. Ss lose if we mandate a time and place.
English

@jordysparks @MercedesLovie @GravlinVicki Key is to develop goals w/stakeholders. 1.) what are WE specifically trying to accomplish? 2.) what change might we introduce-why? 3.) How will we know if the change was an improvement and for who was it an improvement? We can't make this process into a time and a place- PLC.
