@Psythor @Dan4Barnet Glad to see the Producer Price Index getting some attention (we still call the publication Wholesale Price Index in Ireland, but it does have a specific section for Producer Prices). The culture within National Statistics Institutes is crucial.

@mststats Oof. At least it didn't fall while there were little ones in the garden. Less signs of damage here in Cork City (although a wall on the Lee Rd collapsed).

@IrishRail Could you prompt someone to have an announcement made on the train? The delayed 13:00 from Heuston is currently sitting between Charleville and Mallow with no updates to those not on twitter.

@IrishRail @TFIupdates Would it have killed ye to have four carriages on the train from Dundalk to Belfast. Far too many will need to stand as far as Belfast when we finally get going. The train is still standing at the station, hopefully not waiting for another coach load‽

@GrimKim I think that Philly could probably cope with Dubliners better than New Yorkers have.

@JamesPhl96 Perhaps they'll need to swap the Dublin portal to link with Philly... I think that Dubliners are less likely to fuss about the inevitable shenanigans (and we have got some of it out of our system already). Dublin being 4/5 hours ahead would keep it interesting.

And any limit here would likely be permanent. Euston is prime land in central London. If you decide you don’t need the land for platforms and release it to developers, you won’t be getting it back. Ever.

@thomasforth @AllieRenison This is especially given rebasing to 2021=100 happening for short-term business stats indexes in the EU, and other domains are using 2020=100. So the data quirks will filter through for years (2/2).

@thomasforth @AllieRenison How to handle pandemic wage & business payments caused much head scratching in those involved in some of the inputs of GDP. Every decision about how to deal with it by an NSI has some consequences that are still being unravelled (1/2)

Next Sunday the All-Ireland hurling final will be on the BBC for the first time. It’s Cork vs Clare, a cracker of match in front of 82,400 screaming fans at Croke Park, for the highlight of the Irish sporting year. If you’ve never seen Hurling, here is a quick explainer…

@thomasforth What % of families at risk of poverty would be impacted by raising the cap from 2 to 3? This could be a much easier (politically) change to introduce, but I don't have the info on how many would be affected. The edge cases of v large families make the headlines.

@thomasforth It would be interesting to see polling on raising the cap to 3. Would it be more acceptable to the majority/popular to have a more generous cap than to completely abolish it? It would be interesting to see studies on the impact on child poverty of doing so.

The two-child benefit cap policy is probably the biggest challenge for me. My ultra-centrist performatively good person vibes combine with seeing the poverty data to say "get rid of the cap". But then I've spoken to people. It's popular. Similar to scrapping inheritance tax.
