Indoor 3000m world record holder Lamecha Girma, who took a scary fall in the Paris Olympics steeplechase final and was hospitalized, will not run the 2025 indoor season. I ask his management team for an update on how his recovery went after the Olympics. Here's what they said: "He was very lucky to not pick up any physical injury or concussion with the fall in Paris. After a full medical check-up at the hospital post-fall, we were all very relieved there were no internal or external injuries! It was always the plan last year to be all-in for Gold in Paris, and to shut the season down post-Olympics." Girma did not race after the Games and took 2-3 weeks off before resuming training. He just got married and is preparing for the outdoor season.

@LukeColeman89 @brady_h More elements involved in a marathon but also waaaay more opportunities for things to go wrong in a marathon, which is mostly why I think it’s so much harder to nail a marathon. Also, less opportunities just simply makes it more difficult too, I think. Just my two tiny cents

@dubmilam @brady_h Less opportunities to run a marathon though so people will rarely push to the brink hence why people believe its harder to execute but reality is that probably similar probability you just get more opportunities to get it right with a 5k
