Halftime performance for this game is hilarious Punishing the G7 crowd with off tempo out of key country music

It’s not real. It’s largely engagement farming followed by dogpiling and in 18 months everyone involved will either pretend it never happened or legitimately forget it did
Velodus✨@velodus

SGA is one of the most interesting athletes ever to me in that he's going to retire one day with the stats and resume of the very, very greatest players of all time and yet people genuinely can't stand him. The disparity between his success and favorability is super abnormal.

@mathyu_junior @JamesLiebz No what you believe actually doesn't matter because what happened is what happened whether you want to accept it or not. Flat earthers beliefs don't change the shape of a planet.

@duckshoe @JamesLiebz Well it kinda does matter what I believe because now its most possible conclusion to drafts going forward They did it as an over correction to an overreaction

We've already done this before. The lottery odds were very flat in the early 90s, then the Magic won the lottery as a 41 win team after winning the Shaq lottery the year before and the league immediately recognized that this was a bad outcome and changed the weighting.
Legion Hoops@LegionHoops

There’s now a 71% chance the NBA’s No. 1 pick falls to a 6th place-12th place team. Only a 29% chance it falls to a bottom 5 team, per @ShamsCharania. Wow, wow, wow.

@mathyu_junior @JamesLiebz It doesn't really matter what you believe this is what happened and the reason drafts exist. They didn't just randomly decide to do it, it was a response and designed for a specific purpose

@duckshoe @JamesLiebz I also don't believe that the draft was just here so bad teams could get good players. I 100% am with the bottom three teams being punished for not building better teams.

@duckshoe @JamesLiebz Are you really trying to say draft position makes more of a difference to how your team gets better than the people actually constructing the teams? That’s why NO and Zion are so successful right? lol

@Virgil_0vid @mathyu_junior @TKalyniuk @bblacktacularr Why? What practical difference will it make when we go back to accidentally bad 20 win teams instead of intentionally bad ones? This isn't even the most top/bottom heavy the league has been so you're almost certainly overstating the impact of tanking

Virgil Ovid@Virgil_0vid·
@mathyu_junior @TKalyniuk @bblacktacularr @duckshoe It was impacting the quality of the game, broadcasts, and standings. Teams went on 10-0 runs then you look and it's 2 real wins and 8 tanking "wins". Shit ass players were getting record stats against Washington's G-league. When things get that blatant you gotta change it up.

@mathyu_junior @JamesLiebz No this just doesn't matter. This isn't an open market where market share is the only thing affected by firms succeeding/failing. A team failing is a catastrophe for the league and it's at its best when teams go through good/bad cycles. They need mechanisms to encourage that

@duckshoe @JamesLiebz Folks are seriously negating the fact these teams have terrible people running them which is why they are in poverty. Look at Brooklyn. They had 5 chances at it last year and still shit the bed but the Wizards got Ky or Riley outside or the lottery

@mathyu_junior @JamesLiebz You don't need a draft for entry into the league in a general sense, you could just let teams sign players. You implement a draft specifically because you have a need to control who goes where to ensure healthy competition

@duckshoe @JamesLiebz The Draft exists to bring people into the league period. History has shown you can get a good pick at any number, any round. You just have to have a front office and a scouting worth a damn to find those picks.

@mathyu_junior @JamesLiebz Because the reason the draft exists is to push talent to teams that need it the most because teams staying bad is not good for the league

@duckshoe @JamesLiebz why is that a problem? If they just barely made the playoffs, maybe they should get a generational talent to push them into the playoffs.

@JamesLiebz No it is actually more likely that a team who barely misses the playoffs will luck into a generational talent now

Normal Man@duckshoe·
@LindaFalulu No it doesn't. The premise is the Magic were already good, won the lottery and then the league changed the odds to favour lower seeds. The odds of the Magic winning have nothing to do with that

@Virgil_0vid @bblacktacularr We're losing most reliable way to funnel talent to teams that need it the most, which is something a league as star-driven as the NBA desperately needs

@bblacktacularr @duckshoe The bottom three teams traded away talent to take on injured stars that they could shut down. Not a single team at the bottom was actually bad this year. The system no longer worked. It was completely fucked. What are we losing getting rid of it.
