@YetiMoose @LMplusG HE HAD A CHOICE. The FAIR Plan only covers wildfire and earthquake perils, and, yes, is capped. Most people have layers of insurance coverage to make sure they had adequate insurance for their homes. The surplus market in California is growing for a reason.

@LMplusG You learned wrong. He did insure his home. It's just that it was underinsured, and that's because he had to use the California state insurance company which wouldn't insure for more than that amount. He had no choice, take that underinsurance or no insurance.
