@jamiegoode @vinesandwines1 @BestyMike Yeah but it’s good to know it can be done! We aim for sugars of 22-24 brix if possible. With the 2020 October rains it was a case of waiting for sugar concentration in the berries to rise again after each rain event - and one pick resulted in exceptionally high sugars.

These wines at Danbury Ridge are remarkable. They’ve definitely raised bar for still wines. It’s going to be good fun for other producers to chase their lead and great for wine drinkers if England makes wine this good.

@nattmcconnell @BestyMike We finished at Danbury on 25th October in 2019 and 23rd October 2020. With v’yd mgt tailored to resilient berry skins we can hang grapes out to reach 1000GDD without botrytis coming in. South Essex around the river estuaries gets the highest GDD in the UK

@nattmcconnell @BestyMike 2019 &20 were the two wettest harvest periods since 2004 in Essex. If we can achieve this length of hang time in yrs like those, then we’re in a strong position to reach full maturity in almost any vintage

To a point. Don't allow over-cropping, esp in cool UK climate, as grapes won't ripen. For still Burgundy wines 5t/Ha. For sparkling 8-10/ha
