Curious to know what are the steps and years of experience/education do you need to become an engineering manager?

@sydnee_sampson @KristyT @kamilah @engineering_bae at any rate, I have a BA (in English) and almost 15 years of IC experience - I'd been asked before and said no, and my path was long and winding. don't rush to get here, your timing is the right timing

@sydnee_sampson @KristyT @kamilah @engineering_bae being full stack means I know how to call BS on estimates, etc. I wouldn't go into mgmt until you've been a tech lead and mentored people, it's the closest corollary you'll find w/out being a manager. EM is a lot responsibility. plus you'll need to understand the business too
