@afneil We're far off from having aircraft powered by renewables let alone having enough electrical supply 24/7 for everything else.

So producing your own oil and gas does nothing for energy security. I see. If that’s true of Britain it must be true of other fossil fuel producers too. But of course it isn’t.
JB@DizzyJB

@afneil Benefits are tax revenue and jobs only. This will do nothing to improve energy security or bring bills down, when we remain dependent on the global market. Only investment in renewables will alleviate that dependency long term.

I’d need to see the text of the act. Most questions of illegitimacy center on a faithless queen consort. I’m also not so sure it would even apply because when that act was written, there was no way to prove who was the father of whom, there was no DNA, so it wouldn’t have been possible for a queen regnant to have an illegitimate son as far as the law is concerned

Is royal biographer Andrew Lownie going much too far? He's now claiming that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is not Prince Philip's son. Lownie alleges that the former Prince Andrew is the son of the late Queen Elizabeth and her racing manager, 'Porchie', the 7th Earl of Carnarvon

@richardaeden Well, it’s true, if that makes a difference. Look at Andrew. However, I don’t think it matters. Andrew took his rights of succession to the throne from his mother not his father

JEEZ you’re stupid. The idea you’d leave UK for France to dodge taxes puts your IQ in low single figures. But pray tell about this lift. I didn’t even know we had one!

"I would be disappointed if we didn't have a settlement on the moon and [are] building a manufacturing facility on the moon within 10 years. Hopefully half that.” Before Mars, Elon Musk’s SpaceX is now betting on the Moon as a new hub of computing and space infrastructure. SpaceX president and chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell told TIME the company hopes to manufacture AI-powered satellites on the lunar surface, part of a broader plan to build data centers in space and partnership with NASA’s lunar Artemis program. In 2021, NASA selected SpaceX to build Artemis’ so-called human landing system: the vehicle designed to land two astronauts on the Moon while two others remain in orbit aboard the Orion spacecraft. With the Artemis IV mission scheduled for 2028, SpaceX’s proposed solution Starship is still in testing. Read more here: time.com/article/2026/0…

@afneil The state owned oil companies of BP where the government stake was just over 50% since 1914 by Winston Churchill to safeguard supplies for the Royal Navy and BNOC and British Gas were privatised by the Conservative Government of Margaret Thatcher starting in 1979.

Your mind is clearly blown because you have no idea what you’re talking about. Let’s just take gas. All of it comes by pipeline into the UK and is used in the UK. Oil is a bit more complicated but I’ll let you grapple with the facts about gas before moving on to that. Let me know if you have any questions about gas. Happy to help.
Zoe Gardner@ZoeJardiniere

It is blowing my mind how many people don’t seem able to grasp that oil & gas in the North Sea is not “ours” but was sold off to private companies who will trade it on the international market like any other fuel. We don’t get any kind of privileged access to this fuel.

Actually France doesn’t get much oil or gas from the Gulf. And I wish those who affect to be so knowledgeable about the Strait of Hormuz would learn how to spell Strait. (And it’s singular). You’re welcome.

@afneil The US has no reason to militarily intervene in eastern Ukraine. France has every reason to keep the Straights open. Big difference.

Back in 2013, @Ed_Miliband proposed an energy price cap. David Cameron called it “Marxist.” Today it kicks in, cutting £117 a year from bills, perfect timing given the conflict in Iran. Turns out someone was right all along. Cheers, Ed. ⚡
