Given the GDPval benchmark for GPT-5.4, I've updated this chart, the new model ties or beats humans as judged by other experts at professional tasks 82% of the time If you give a 7 hour task to AI, even with failure rates and the need to check results, you'd save 4h 38m average

Since OpenAI didn't update Figure 7 from GDPval given the success rate of GPT-5.2 on long-form tasks, I used GPT-5.2 Pro to do so. The chart assumes the process is: delegate long tasks to AI, evaluate the output for an hour, then decide to try again or give up & do it yourself.

Scientific citations getting a boost in @GeminiApp! When you ask Gemini to include scientific sources, you will now see proper APA-style inline citations and detailed reference sections, which should help students and researchers everywhere. We're just starting to roll this out with prompts that are clearly scientific in nature, so you might not see it everywhere yet. Let us know what you think!

#DefundDFG“? Die Empörung über die Entscheidung der DFG, KI in der Begutachtung zu erlauben, ist groß. Ich glaube aber: Die Debatte greift zu kurz. Und die Entscheidung der DFG nur folgerichtig. 👉 Der Kommentar im Wiarda-Blog: jmwiarda.de/blog/2026/01/1…

In 2026, I expect we’ll see the birth of the first AI-native university. Over the past several years, universities have dabbled in AI-enabled grading, tutoring, and scheduling. But what’s emerging now is deeper, an adaptive academic organism that learns and optimizes itself in real time. Picture an institution where courses, advising, research collaboration, and even building operations continuously adapt based on data feedback loops. Schedules optimize themselves. Reading lists evolve nightly and rewrite themselves as new research appears. Learning paths shift in real time to meet each student’s pace and context. We’re already seeing precursors. ASU’s campus-wide partnership with OpenAI produced hundreds of AI-driven projects across teaching and administration. SUNY now embeds AI literacy into its general education requirements. These are the building blocks for more foundational deployment. In the AI-native university, professors become architects of learning, curating data, tuning models, and teaching students how to interrogate machine reasoning Assessment shifts, too. Detection tools and plagiarism bans give way to AI-aware evaluation, grading students on how they use AI, not whether they used it. Transparency and tactful application replaces prohibition. And as every industry struggles to hire people who can design, govern, and collaborate with AI systems, this new university becomes the training ground, producing graduates fluent in orchestration who help augment a rapidly shifting workforce. This AI-native university will become the talent engine for a new economy. Do you think an AI native university will arise in 2026? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Today, we’re announcing a major breakthrough that marks a significant step forward in the world of quantum computing. For the first time in history, our teams at @GoogleQuantumAI demonstrated that a quantum computer can successfully run a verifiable algorithm, 13,000x faster than leading classical supercomputers. This continues to build momentum on past quantum computing discoveries. Back in 2019, we proved a quantum computer could solve a problem that would take a classical computer thousands of years. Then in 2024, our new Willow chip solved a major issue in quantum error correction that challenged the field for nearly 30 years. Today’s breakthrough moves us closer to quantum computers that can drive discoveries in areas like medicine and materials science.

Today, GPT-5 launches across our platforms, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Azure AI Foundry. It's the most capable model yet from our partners at OpenAI, bringing powerful new advances in reasoning, coding, and chat, all trained on Azure. It’s hard to believe it’s only been two and a half years since @sama joined us in Redmond to show the world GPT-4 for the first time in Bing, and it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come since that moment. The pace of progress is only accelerating, and I can’t wait to see what developers, enterprises, and consumers will do with this latest breakthrough. news.microsoft.com/source/feature…
