@aaron_lubeck we should start a 4 year public engagement & planning process effort to determine the public's opinions on planter placement and appearance...
English

@dwotwell I’m not either. Portland’s network is very light. But it’s comprehensive so it sort of works.
Berkeley’s is much better because they use bike permeable barriers much more effectively.
I suspect Durham’s network could be Berkeley-level with fewer than 20 flower planters.
English

@aaron_lubeck Lol state funding for bike projects.
Slapping bike lane paint and sharrows on roads already pedestrian/bike friendly is the low hanging fruit.
Show me physically protected connections spanning the dangerous areas between those segments and I'll dance for joy.
English

@aaron_lubeck I'm all for on-street parking on neighborhood streets. I'm not convinced sharrows and signs make this any better of a facility for bikes, it was already pretty great.

@aaron_lubeck anyone wants to build a baseball stadium without public subsidies, I'd be happy to vote for the zoning to support it!
English

The city of #Raleigh needs a rendering of the future baseball stadium NOW.
We cannot afford to do it the way we usually do—"talk about it" for 10 years before anybody puts pen to paper.

Nashville’s mayor expresses doubts on Music City’s MLB future (a market some viewed as a front-runner.) ⚾️With new NFL stadium planned, no funding in near future for sports ⚾️Ingredients (money, land, ownership) not there ⚾️No meaningful contact w/ Rays or MLB (past year)

@PepperyOrange I thought it looked pretty cool...
not sure what all the fuss is about, I thought New Yorkers were proud of their tall buildings.
English

Everybody hates on the pencil building but when I actually visited NYC, wanting to see it for myself, I tried multiple times but failed to identify this specific building bcuz there are dozens of buildings in NYC that ALL look like this. Crazy how much ppl arbitrarily hate on it.
Spane, Your Average Cornell ’77 Enjoyer@SperrysandNikes
I hate this building so much.

@RaleighTranspo these bike lanes are buffered with paint, not parking protected.
they're separated lanes, not protected lanes.
English

Protected bike lanes are coming to Oberlin Road!🚲
The City is committed to creating dedicated space for cyclists to travel separate from vehicular traffic.

@RaleighTranspo I almost got upset there!
These plans sure look like buffered bike lanes, which are not protected at all:

@dwotwell The Oberlin Road project includes protected bike lanes.
English

The Oberlin Road Streetscape Project is close to being completed!
This project includes several improvements:
✅Wider sidewalks
✅Pedestrian refuge island
✅Bike lanes
✅Traffic signal modifications

More of this @TxDOT. 🙌
Driver behavior is the primary threat to pedestrians. Americans don't need walking PSAs, they need driving PSAs.

👏🚧 Big win for safety! New crash-rated bollards have been installed at the Oberlin Rd./Pullen Rd. roundabout. These stainless steel barriers, fortified with 1,400 lbs of steel, will help ensure safer public spaces and pedestrian protection. #SafetyUpgrade #CommunityFirst
English

@JWDemby I've heard that the plan being executed on the State Gov Campus will demolish the buildings in Caswell square and will look at returning it to some kind of public space.
English

@RaleighReporter Still calling it the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena.
I wish we'd name it something culturally appropriate or commemorative.
