the script for wuthering heights would have worked so much better/faced less criticism if it were just produced as an original title but miss fennel wanted that IP too badly without any of the actual plot that comes with it

Saw a lot of discourse about the fact Heathcliff is whitewashed in the movie instead of being of Romani/Indian descent, and yet I’ve seen no one mention the kinda malicious choice to then cast an Indian man as Edgar Linton, the husband Catherine feels trapped and miserable with.
