Varsity @SaintJoeBsball split a competitive Saturday doubleheader, beating Lakeshore 3-1 in 9 innings and falling to Grand Rapids Catholic Central 4-2 in 10 innings. Against Lakeshore, Eli Allison set the tone on the mound, working five innings and allowing just one unearned run while striking out six. After trailing early, Saint Joe broke through in the fifth when Jack Matthew delivered an RBI single to even the score. The game remained deadlocked until the ninth, when the Huskies capitalized on an error and an RBI single from Dallas Downey to take control. William Criniti was dominant in relief to earn the win, and Jacob Snyder closed the door for the save. At the plate, AJ LaSane and Will Bolin each collected two hits. In game two, Saint Joe battled into extra innings again but came up short in a 4-2 loss to Catholic Central. Julian Cosey delivered a strong start, going seven innings and allowing just two runs while striking out six without issuing a walk. Dylan Jankowski pitch three solid innings in relief, giving up only one hit and striking out three. Offensively, James Criniti led the way with two hits, while he and LaSane sparked the offense on the bases as part of another aggressive running effort.
