In Race to the Rhine, each general has unique characteristics that influence strategy. Montgomery, Patton, and Bradley all face the same objective, but their special rules alter how they advance and manage supplies. Montgomery benefits from greater efficiency but at the cost of slower movement. Patton drives forward aggressively, trading speed for the risk of overextension. Bradley provides balance, though he lacks the extremes of the other two. These differences ensure that no two games play alike. Choosing a general shapes the tempo of operations and the type of logistical challenges faced along the way. Replayability is built directly into the personalities of the commanders. My 2nd play of Okinawa: The Last Battle of World War II from Best with 1 Games. Cool solitaire game with some fantastic mechanics and beautiful art and components. Here I won but not without some trouble. Nearly lost several times but figured it out to escape and win. Great game!

The Replacement system in 1920: Nest of Eagles rewards players who fight with discipline. Each Theater grants Replacements based on how many Attacks you made in the previous turn. No attacks earns you two. One or two earns one. More than that and you receive none. This rule encourages a deliberate tempo. Attack too often and your forces will become depleted. Hold the line and you may restore critical divisions. Replacements can also bring back eliminated units, assuming they are marked as Available to Rebuild. Strategic restraint allows you to sustain momentum over time. Many scenarios hinge on which units return to the board in the final rounds.
