My final game wrap-up of Day 2 at the Pitt Jamfest by @TheHoopGroup was a straight heavyweight clash between WV Gold NXT 17U and Hoop Roots… physical, relentless, emotional from start to finish. This was a war where every possession had weight, and nothing came easy. WV Gold jumped out early with force, setting the tone with pressure defense and attacking offense to build a double-digit lead. They carried that edge into halftime up 38-28, playing with control and confidence. Hoop Roots came out of the break with a different energy, turning defense into offense and chipping away possession by possession. It turned into a game of runs, each side answering the other with toughness, hustle, and grit. Loose balls were battles, rebounds were fought for, and the intensity kept rising. With the game hanging in the balance, WV had a chance to win it at the buzzer from just across half court. The shot hit the rim, rattled around, and spun out, sending the gym into chaos as it rolled into overtime. Over time brought even more fire. #30 @eli_prince13 attacked the rim and finished to give Hoop Roots the early edge. WV Gold answered instantly as #21 @Joey_Zieglerr22 stepped into a clutch three and buried it, flipping the score and momentum in one shot. Prince came right back and made two free throws under pressure to keep Hoop Roots in position. WV Gold locked in defensively and turned up the pressure 94 feet, making every second uncomfortable and every decision difficult. Stops, rebounds, and execution down the stretch sealed it. WV Gold pulled out a hard-fought 74-72 overtime win. #21 @Joey_Zieglerr22 led the way with 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals, delivering when it mattered most. #12 @asher_suardini added 15 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal, bringing steady production. #24 @Nick_reece11 chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, while #32 @gideonigood controlled the paint with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Hoop Roots was led by #30 @eli_prince13, who put on a show with a game-high 26 points, adding 6 rebounds and 3 blocks, battling all night in a performance that kept his team right there until the final seconds.
