President & CEO Appointment: Simon Baloyi [47] Today, Sasol announced the appointment of Simon Baloyi as its new President and CEO, effective April 1, 2024. Currently serving as the Executive Vice President, Baloyi's ascension to the top position is a testament to his over two decades of invaluable expertise and leadership within the company. Born and raised in Suurman near Hammanskraal, a small town in South Africa, Baloyi's educational journey commenced at Hans Kekana High School, where he graduated in 1994. He holds both a BSc Honors and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, along with an MSc in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria. Additionally, he completed a management program at INSEAD. Baloyi embarked on his career at Sasol in 2002, holding positions as Assistant Process Engineer (Engineer in Training), Process Engineer, and Senior Process Engineer at the gas circuit plant. In 2005, Baloyi gained international experience working for Particulate Solid Research Inc. in Chicago, USA, and KBR as a Process Design Engineer in London, UK. Upon returning to Sasol, he led the High-Temperature Fischer-Tropsch (HTFT) pilot project and was involved in catalyst research. He was subsequently appointed Engineering Manager in 2009. His contributions to Sasol include the FT wax expansion project, wax column placements, Infrachem Lab, SGEP Heat Integration, and the Meerkat Cobalt Catalyst plant, among others. In 2012, he assumed the role of Business Operations Manager for the SCCM Business, based in Sasolburg and Rosebank. Returning to Secunda in 2013, he held various positions over the past six years, including Operations Manager, General Manager, and Vice President. Congratulations Simon, a truly well-deserved appointment. #AskAsanteOnBoards
