@eChemicles is developing innovative and more effective technologies to enhance the world’s first low-temperature CO₂ electrolyser system. As a Top Innovator recognized by @WEFUpLink, our main focus is on development and scale-up, while also prioritizing sustainability and effectiveness. Size matters… Modifications to our manufacturing technology involve changing one of our most important metal components (bipolar plates) to reduce the weight and size of our cell stack. This green initiative not only simplifies stack assembly but also offers numerous long-term advantages: it uses fewer natural resources, makes the technology easier to ship, and saves valuable space when scaled up, and facilitates integration with existing infrastructures. Overall, the result is a techno-economically more efficient stack. Electrolysis for a Better Tomorrow! 🌳 #CCU #electrolysis #decarbonisation #scaleup #engineering

@eChemicles is excited to announce its participation in Project ROROTE (Round-Robin Testing for CO₂ Electrolysis), a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revolutionizing CO₂ electrolysis technology. Research is the basis of eChemicles’s scalable CO₂ electrolysis technology. By conducting rigorous testing and validation, the project aims to examine CO₂ electrolysis systems, assess the reproducibility in different lab-environments and create a standardized laboratory testing protocol for the research community. eChemicles is leading the project where we are aiming to answer the question if CO₂ electrolysis systems are truly reproducible in different lab-environments. If yes, what are the requirements for standardized testing to be able to reliably compare new catalysts or cell components? If not, what do we need to adjust to observe similar performance? We expect to establish a standardized test protocol during the project, which will largely support the scaling-up of CO₂ electrolysis. This collaboration brings together leading research universities, industry partners, and innovative companies: @UMSICHT, @Uni_Szeged , Technical University of Berlin, @DTUtweet, @tudelft and eChemicles to achieve the project’s key goals. Together, we are committed to Electrolysis for a Better Tomorrow! 🌳 #CCU #electrolysis #research #sustainability #collaboration #chemistry

Is it possible to turn back global warming? 🌡️ Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) technologies could be the key to saving our planet from the climate catastrophe! “The world needs to remove around 10 billion tonnes of CO₂ a year – and up to 687 billion tonnes by the end of the century”. Achieving Net Zero by 2050 is not enough, we must also remove historical CO₂ emissions, according to the World Economic Forum’s article. “Natural carbon solutions, including afforestation, remove around 2 billion tonnes of CO₂ a year.” We must address both existing CO₂ and prevent new emissions. Speeding up the Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) and Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) processes is crucial “to rebalance the CO₂ level in the atmosphere and prevent the future global warming”. Intervention is needed and it is needed now! CO₂ can be used as a feedstock for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), and maritime fuels, chemical manufacturing and even as personal care products. CCU technologies unify the 3R of the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) framework:  Remove, Reuse and Recycle CO₂. Top Innovators of @WEFUpLink and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Economy and Planning’s CCU Challange (@ParallelCarbon , @eChemicles , @carbontostone , Oxylus Energy, @upcatalyst1 , D-CRBN, @dioxycle , ICODOS, Greenlyte Carbon Technologies, enaDyne and Gasgene) are developing sustainable decarbonisation technologies to reduce and reuse CO₂ emissions, which account for almost 1/3 of greenhouse gases. We are optimistic that with diligent work and adapting advanced decarbonization technologies, such as eChemicles’s low-temperature CO₂ electrolyser technology, we can address the problem in time. Have you read the first technical publication on extending @eChemicles's activities towards electrochemical #ethylene production? Tamas Fodi and @JanakyLab have co-authored a paper with Balázs Endrődi and Mohd Monis Ayyub from @Uni_Szeged, which was published in @CarbonEnergy2. In the article, we demonstrate the electrochemical production of ethylene, n-propanol and acetate from carbon monoxide. Compared to conventional production methods, this approach represents an important step towards making the chemical industry more environmentally sustainable. Our zero-gap electrolyser design was able to perform COR at current densities up to 1.4 A cm⁻² with a maximum C₂₊ selectivity of 90%. We demonstrated scale‐up to a 3 ×100 cm² electrolyzer stack capable of stable operation at 1 A cm⁻². This research was partly carried out as part of the @flowphotochem project under the #Horizon 2020 program, where eChemicles has partnered with excellent experts from @uniofgalway, @ITQ_UPVCSIC, @ICIQchem, @EPFL_CHEM_Tweet, University of Szeged, @Johnson_Matthey, @MEMBRASENZ, @HZBde, German Aerospace Center (DLR), @Leitat, University of Amsterdam (UvA), @kyambogou, @sohhytec, @PintailLimited. The publication also highlights not only our practical innovations, such as the world’s first containerized low-temperature CO₂ electrolyser system, our recognition by @WEFUpLink, and our partnership with #Bosch Thin Metal Technologies, but also our scientific excellence.
