This morning I spent time in the e-poster section. I was honoured to present research from @eHealthH2H on the work of digital nursing. There I met Charrell Jansen, a Health Scientist 🇳🇱 whose research on the optimal number of messages to send to clinicians is fascinating!

Whilst the benefits of virtual care are clear, nursing workforce planning is an essential consideration. Human interaction by appropriately skilled nurses is foundational to sucess. Also how do we limit the number of clinically insignificant false alarms! Bravo @RosalynnAustin!

📢 Research spotlight 📢 🎦 Is digital monitoring in #heartfailure a form of digital nursing? @RosalynnAustin & colleagues explore the role of nurses in remote patient monitoring (RPM) interventions for people living with HF 📝 “The work of notifications in a remote digital monitoring intervention in heart failure: is this digital nursing?” investigates the real-world workload generated for nurses who monitor & act upon automated digital notifications post-hospitalisation Key findings from the eHealth@hospital-2-home feasibility study: 👩‍⚕️ 6 nurses actively supported 19 HF patients across two hospitals in Norway 📲 RPM platforms created 1892 notifications over four weeks ⚠️ Over 1,000 were safety-related and required nursing action 🔋 Nurses also dealt with system-level alerts like low battery warnings This study provides an important lens into how digital systems are shaping the scope & delivery of nursing care raising timely questions about the future of digital nursing practice & workload involved. 🔗 You can read the abstract on #ESC365: esc365.escardio.org/presentation/3… #heartfailure2025 #HFA_ESC @escardio @HFA_President
