My rants about minimum dept/faculty funding being indexed to SSHRC grad grants have been heard. Next step, this level of funding PLUS no tuition payments <3

After a decade-long freeze, the Government of Canada is finally increasing the size of TriCouncil awards for graduate students. This is welcome news for the next generation of researchers across the country, and a long overdue investment in Canada's social and economic future.

Final panel #reframingendo - @DeborahBush_NZ talking about how images perpetuate misinformation, marginalize viewers. Uses image of uterus wrapped in barbed wire: "[This image would lead one to assume removal of the uterus would fix their endometriosis, it won't]"

Let's stop collapsing stigma and discrimination, says @Kate_Seear. Raises positioning endo care as a human rights issue - acknowledges critiques of model but notes there is power in this rhetoric in terms of policy action. "Not simply a problem of bias" #reframingendo

"this is not anxious patients complaining about pain, these are psychological symptoms which are directly caused [by endometriosis] ... we think of this disease as a hormonal disease but in reality there is an inflammatory component" Dr. H Taylor @yalemed at #reframingendo

"Surgery prevents people from getting diagnosed early ... its a true barrier to getting access to treatment" - Dr Hugh Taylor starting panel 4 #reframingendo. Also notes endo pathology is heterogeneous, cannot be understood solely by looking at the pelvis

Exactly, and this is the reality - hardly any options for those patients (many not even patients yet) who don't have confirmed diagnosis, or the income to fund pain relief #reframingendo

"Diagnosis is good, but we shouldn't lose sight of those patients who don't get a confirmed diagnosis, but are still suffering distressing, uncomfortable pain" Sharon Dixon, GP and NIHR doctoral research fellow #reframingendo

Ties in with the Q about national siloes. In Canada, laparoscopy is still the primary means of diagnosis. But Finland, panelist Dr. Temmes notes, prefers the ultrasound method.

I asked a Q about diagnostic delay that I think was misunderstood, but appreciate the answers. Central Q driving my MA is: what does care look like for those who have not had laparoscopy/surgical diagnosis? I think this pop. is hard for medicine to recognize #reframingendo

Excellent Q from @jaivirdi during panel 3 #reframingendo about bridging national silos of knowledge/care practices about endometriosis. (For example, heard about 'endometriosis nurses' as part of secondary care teams in Finland today?)

#Reframingendo A big "problem is the framing of endo from western medicine...[it's non holistic and it says its about] the lining of the uterus...which we know it is not" @cystersgroup
