In Nigeria, young people are saying no to the fraudulent recruitment of Alabuga Start bound for Russia.
At Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, students launched an awareness campaign on their campus to warn their peers, especially young women, about this dangerous program. It is a strong signal: young people are getting informed, opening their eyes, and refusing to fall for deceptive promises.
For those who do not know what it is, Alabuga Start is presented online as a work or training opportunity in Russia, with very attractive promises such as free flights, good salaries, and no experience required. But according to the article, several young women who were recruited actually end up in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone in Tatarstan, working at a drone manufacturing site linked to Russia’s war effort in Ukraine.
What matters most today is that young people themselves are beginning to spread the warning. When youth protect youth, it shows that a real awareness is beginning to emerge in the face of this trap.
Inform, warn, protect.
