For many, AirVenture is a weeklong celebration of aviation, but for Don, EAA 43797, and Karen Duck, EAA 617522, it’s a family tradition that spans generations and nearly a month of dedicated volunteer work each year. The Ducks have become a cornerstone of the volunteer community at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, contributing their time, skills, and passion to ensure the event runs smoothly. Look fast to be fast! The Pelegrin Tarragon is a sleek, sharp-looking airplane with the speed to match. Named after the tarragon herb, this Latvian design has the unofficial world speed record for airplanes in the European microlight category at 217 knots. 📸 Jim Raeder #Aviation #Avgeeks #Oshkosh #AviationGoals

Meet the Fokkers! Flying together this #FormationFriday are WWI replicas: the Dr.I in the lead, followed by the D.VII. Both serving near the end of World War I, these aircraft highlight varying approaches to fighter design as triplanes gave way to biplanes, which would eventually be made obsolete by monoplanes. 📸 Connor Madison #Aviation #Avgeeks #WWI #MilitaryHistory

EAA is saddened by the death of test pilot Mike Melvill, a frequent and inspiring presence at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.   One of Mike’s most renowned accomplishments came in 2004, when he piloted SpaceShipOne to the edge of space as the team claimed the XPrize for the first successful civilian spaceflights.   The EAA Aviation Museum’s SpaceShipOne exhibit will continue to honor Mike Melvill’s pioneering achievements and inspire future generations of aviators.

This T-50 Bobcat has been to Oshkosh several times, but, since 36 years had passed since its last visit, its return was a welcome surprise for many avgeeks at #OSH25. John Cyrier is now the caretaker of this vintage airplane and is honored to preserve its history while continuing the legacy of the Bamboo Bomber. The full story is in the April 2026 issue of Sport Aviation. discover.eaa.org/oBrV50YyW4I 📸 Connor Madison ✏️ Hal Bryan #Aviation #Avgeeks #Oshkosh #Aircraft

Unique and a different breed are just a couple of ways to describe this Culp Special. This radial-engine biplane blends vintage inspiration with modern muscle, powered by a 360-hp M14P that makes it an uncommon and thrilling air show act. 📸 @Jim_Koepnick #Aviation #Avgeeks #Oshkosh #PilotLife

The FAA recently published a new website dedicated to clarifying the privileges, limitations, and process to obtain repairman certificates of varying types. Covered on the website are “general” repairmen (typically employed by commercial repair stations and air carriers), amateur-built repairmen (obtained by the primary builders of amateur-built aircraft), and light-sport repairmen. A 1930s legend with stories to spare! In its day, the Lockheed Vega was a pioneering aircraft, flown by pilots like Amelia Earhart and Wiley Post as they broke records and made new discoveries. This particular example was even flown by the legendary Jimmy Doolittle during his time with Shell Oil. 📸 Scott Slocum #Aviation #Avgeeks #AviationHistory #Airplanes
