One of Argentina's current squad was alive when Ale made his international debut. One of the great people, too.

After facing a healthy dose of consistent low blocks, Oliver Glasner knew that a trip to Old Trafford would see his Palace side cede territory & possession. Knowing this, he selected his two most direct & pacey attackers (Johnson & Sarr) to win duels & exploit space behind.
Tampa Palace@CPFC_Tampa

Easily Palace’s most direct set up. “Big Six” away - expect to see Glasner go back to what he does best: •cede possession •active & organized in defense •counter with pace into the vacated space behind their back line #CPFC

Hércules 2-1 Eldense A mental ending. It looked like Eldense's goalie had equalised in injury time (then given as an own goal) before Hércules went straight up the other end to score a late late winner. What a ground too

@SickosCommittee Feels way more aggro to me to be planting a flag away at a rival’s stadium rather than one you can fairly call home! Just thought it was important context

@eaamalyon I can't tell if that makes the flag planting more or less aggressive.

@gabedorosz @TheAthletic Yeah they paid $550m to buy a sports-specific modern media company that was a few years old. It’s not 1995 anymore.

@eaamalyon Also just incoherent when it comes to the examples cited - the NYT paid half a billion to acquire @TheAthletic, which *is* their sports section , and is thriving.

Couldn’t agree with this any less. People just don’t necessarily want the news-politics-weather-sports bundle anymore. The internet ushered in an era of specialisation and there are so, so many more sports-specific outlets than before, even team-specific outlets now.
Luke Thomas🏋️‍♀️@lthomasnews

Between major publications (NYT, now WaPo & others) scaling back or even eliminating sports coverage combined with sports leagues pricing out the middle class with insane costs to attend games/buy merch, the days of sports as a shared cultural phenomenon appear to be numbered.

@lthomasnews Sports are bigger than they’ve ever been. The idea that they’re ending as a shared cultural phenomenon (as you claimed) because the old media business model doesn’t work anymore is just nonsense

@eaamalyon This is not an issue of bundle. The newest outlets that are produced are a) far less capitalized to do the work, b) have smaller audiences, c) less training, d) less staff & d) content tailored to drivel. My industry has been destroyed by this and cracks are emerging elsewhere.
