Every time I watch a catfu video it makes me laugh. Even my kids are completely obsessed with it. I’m officially nominating Catfu as meme of 2026.

As of yesterday, I have decided to resign from my role as a columnist for The Washington Post — a newspaper that I love. In a moment like this, everyone needs to make their own decisions. This is the reasonfor mine. 🧵

Dame Maggie Smith's storied career across stage and screen earned her multiple awards. She died on Friday at age 89, her family confirmed. In 2015, Mo Rocca sat down with the legendary actress — and reminisced on her time performing on “The Carol Burnett Show” back in 1975.

Imagine starring in not one but two of the best Agatha Christie adaptations ever made—Evil Under the Sun and Death on the Nile—and them not even being the roles you're famous for. Maggie Smith leaves behind a body of work that goes far, far beyond Potter or Downton.

@NoelDickover @ZaleskiLuke One if my colleagues lives a few blocks behind the Capitol. He was hiding in his apartment, away from the windows. None of us knew how far this was going to spread. It was terrifying.

@ktb38 I made one for my daughter for her going off to college present some years back. Took me a year - I worked on it between other projects. Loved it! I would totally knit another one. Tip - instead of blocks, keep going and make scarves. Then seam the scarves together. Much easier.

@StolenStitches @Ayeameyerene I wind it up into a skein using a pvc niddy noddy, tie it so it won’t tangle, let it soak in the tub with wool wash, then drape the skein(s) over hanger(s) on the shower rod to drip dry. Takes enough of the curlies out.

Kristin Song
Kristin Song@kristinsong3·
My name is Kristin Song. On January 31, 2018, my son Ethan was shot in the head in his best friend's house. The father/gun owner stored 3 handguns and ammunition in a shoebox. Ethan's friend had been accessing the guns for over 6 months. At the hospital, the ER doctor slid down the wall, put his head in his hands, and whispered, "Your son is gone." At that instant, all I knew, loved and trusted was imploded into a million tiny pieces. I begged to say goodbye to my beautiful boy. I wanted to kiss his forehead, tell him how cherished he was, and tuck him in one last time. But the doctor begged me to remember Ethan as he was, you see, he was unrecognizable even to my eyes. The day before Thanksgiving in 2018, the prosecutor told me she would not charge the negligent gun owner, and if I wanted negligent gun owners to be held accountable, I would have to change the law. So I did. 6 months later, Connecticut passed Ethan's Law, which requires gun owners to secure their weapons if children can gain access. Then, I learned that so many states stood silent on this issue, so in 2019, I turned my attention to passing Ethan's Law nationally. I met with over 400 congressional offices, 130 of them Republican. In 2022, Ethan's Law was passed in the House of Representatives as part of the Safer Communities Act. Sadly, it was not picked up in the final package. When the Democrats lost the House of Representatives in 2023, I pivoted to passing safe gun storage laws in the States. As a result, Michigan, New Mexico, and Maryland passed safe storage laws. Currently, I am working with 5 states to pass Ethan's Law. I am emotionally and mentally exhausted, but I will not stop until there is a cultural shift in this country where it becomes second nature to secure your weapons around unsupervised children. If you believe in protecting children from gun violence, please follow and repost.

I'm really looking forward to learning new #knitting techniques this year. It's been so long since I had enough time to expand my skills! Is there anything you'd like to learn this year? (I'll be sharing how it's all going too!)

@netlawyer I think this is why I’ve never been a fan of the Charlie Brown specials. Everyone’s so mean! They were more a part of my husband’s childhood than mine.

I prefer maryland sheep and wool, and I like the smaller festivals because I don't feel like I'm having an anxiety attack because of the crowds. So many people said they wish they could come, because everyone says rhinebeck is AMAZING THE BEST EVER.

So. I have an extremely unpopular opinion to share. I was disappointed in rhinebeck. I loved meeting people, the sheep, and everything. But... I had gone 15 years ago, and it's become a lot more yarn focused, and very trendy cool kids club, which I am not one of.
