Maritime routes are being exploited by criminals who threaten trade and communication, putting global stability at risk. We’re also seeing terrorist groups tapping into maritime-based criminal supply chains to move weapons and illicit goods to finance their activities. At the #UN Security Council debate on maritime security, I emphasized the importance of close collaboration and INTERPOL’s critical work to help address these challenges across three key pillars: • Effective, data-driven international cooperation • Multilateral operational and investigative support • Global threat expertise and outreach

This initiative is not about increasing numbers; but fundamentally transforming the way we approach security. By integrating gender perspectives into criminal justice & counter-crime responses, we address harmful stereotypes & enhance the operational capabilities of our forces.
