In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Please join the @easternctunivpd in recognizing National Police Week, and giving thanks to those involved!

During the month of April, @easternctunivpd joins in celebrating National Autism Acceptance Month. The Office of AccessAbility Services joins us in continuing to establish education and advocacy for everyone in the community, as we strive to support all. #AutismAcceptanceMonth

The @easternctunivpd is thrilled to announce their Tier 1 state accreditation approval for the Police Officer Standards and Training Council of Connecticut (POST-C). This is a significant accomplishment that demonstrates our commitment to upholding the highest standards.

This week is National Dispatcher Appreciation week, and the @easternctunivpd wants to highlight the ones involved. These workers are committed to serving the ECSU campus 24/7. Just a phone call away, these individuals are there to listen and help the community with their needs.

Yesterday afternoon, @easternctunivpd invited @SGAeastern members to tour the PD, where they were shown the dispatch center, administration offices and heard from different officers about their roles within the police department. We hope the E-Board enjoyed their visit!

Last Wednesday, April 5, 2023, @easternctunivpd Officer Morgan Velez graduated the 376th session of the Connecticut Police Academy. We are proud to announce her achievement and happy to have her on campus completing the field training. Please join us in welcoming Officer Velez!

This past Saturday, the 41st Annual Windham Special Olympics Invitational Swim Meet was held at the Windham Community Center. ECSU PD Chief Stephen Tavares, as well as Willimantic PD Chief Paul Hussey, and other police officers passed out medals to participating athletes.

Today, March 24th, @easternctunivpd had the honor of promoting Sergeant Christine Nietupski from her previous position of Officer! We are grateful for Sergeant Nietupski’s dedication to ECSU community, and look forward to this new chapter in life!

On March 8th, ECSU PD Det. Kari Glaude was awarded at the CT Police Academy with a Life Saving Medal for her actions as an officer with the Windsor PD. @CTWindsorPolice @EasternCTStateU @CT_STATE_POLICE Thank you Det. Glaude for your continued commitment. #womanshistorymonth

@EasternCTStateU now has a new mobile safety app called LiveSafe! This app provides the campus community with a direct connection to @easternctunivpd so that you can easily communicate all of your safety needs!

The @easternctunivpd would like to remind the ECSU community of the campus closure. Additionally, shuttle services will also be unavailable for TODAY, February 28th. These services will resume under the normal schedule starting Wednesday morning. Thank you for understanding!

Today, the @easternctunivpd sent off Retired Sergeant Lisa Hamilton on her last day with the ECSU PD! We thank her for her continued efforts to Eastern’s community, and will miss her in the department. As a member of the PD since ‘08, we’re thankful for her years of commitment.

A parking ban for all open air parking lots begins at 10:00 pm TONIGHT, Monday, February 27th. There will be no parking allowed in open air lots or the 4th floor of the garages so they can be cleared. Please use the Shakespeare or Cervantes Garages on floors 1-3 ONLY. Thank you.

As a safety reminder to all students, please make sure your doors are always locked. Whether you are in your apartment, suite, room or not, locking your doors is the best way to prevent theft and practice safety! Thank you for your cooperation and have a great weekend!
