"There's a big issue with immigrants at the moment, I'm sure everyone can agree, there's big debates about what should be done, and this has spilled over in our football arena and it's completely wrong, in fact, it's disgraceful." Former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth has labelled some reactions to Ime Okon's call-up as disgraceful and lauded him as a 'fantastic talent' for the national team. idiskitimes.co.za/bafana-bafana/…

@FabrizioRomano Special one you took a side when you said Vini instigated the situation, whether your player did what he is accused of, at the get go, you should have simply condemned racism and let the investigation took place rather blaming Vini

🚨 José Mourinho on Prestianni case: “I love Álvaro Arbeloa and I will continue to love him, but I think I took the right position”. “I said I wanted to take a position without defending one or attacking another. CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe sends a strong message on Africa’s position in world football: 💬 “We have to stop the inferiority complex. We must move away from the idea that FIFA controls Africa. Do you mean Africa doesn’t have the capacity to speak for itself? People say AFCON was changed to four years because of Europe — that is absolute nonsense. Rubbish. FIFA respects us. Let’s stop the inferiority complex. Sometimes we both compromise to accommodate the interests of football.” #AfricanFootball #CAF #AFCONwithMicky

Bernardo Silva on the Semenyo disallowed goal: “We’re quite used to this at the moment… I don’t want to say too much because we know how these things work. But I saw it, and it just looks ridiculous for me. It is what it is. As I said, it’s so frustrating because the last time we came to St James’ Park in the Premier League, we also had a lot of decisions go against us. Once again tonight, even though we won, it was just quite frustrating to be honest.”

🇧🇷🗣️ Endrick: “My first two weeks at Lyon have gone really well! I’m so happy! 🤩🦁 I scored in my first match and we won — I’m very pleased. I’m settling in, I feel at home. Thanks to the staff and my teammates. Lyon's style of play suits me perfectly, it reminds me of the way Palmeiras play. I told the coach that I’m ready to play in any position to help the team. I just want to win matches with OL and help the team — whether that’s with assists, goals, or defensive work.” 👏

🇩🇪🗣️ Jürgen Klopp on Mo Salah: “We are all massively influenced by our past - how we were raised, where we grew up. Mo knew early on [in his life] that he had to do more than others. "He always developed. He never stops. That is his mindset. After each summer break he came back and had a new skill. It was like he had spent the whole time just practising one particular type of pass. "We pushed each other, just to make sure that we would never stop. And we never did stop. That moment lifting the Premier League bonded us for life. He will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. "I wouldn't say he is easy to manage, but he is also not difficult to manage. You [only] have problems with Mo Salah if he is not playing or you take him off." (Source: @BBCSport)

🎙️ Rio Ferdinand on Arsenal’s title chances “Arsenal are only two points above a bang-average Man City & three above Aston Villa. The fans are up & down – understandable after years without success. Injuries are killing them right now, but I still think they win the league. They’re making hard work of it, yet every champion goes through these spells. I believe they get over the line. It could be the start of something special.” 🏆 #AFC #PremierLeague

Noni Madueke on religion within the Arsenal squad: “It’s fantastic that we have a squad that is not ashamed of that. We believe it gives us such a massive boost when we go on to the pitch, that we’re not alone.” “We believe that we have God fighting for us. It just brings us closer together. We’re so close, but I feel like [we’re closer] because of it & long may it continue for sure.” “Before every game, we pray together for a few minutes & then also at the hotel, studying the bible & just praying. Not even just always praying, just seeing if we’re all good, checking on each other.” “There are probably 10 of us, so a few of us contribute. Maybe [we pick] a scripture, we talk about it, read about it, see what everyone is going through, how we can help, pray for each other, stuff like that, so it’s really good.” 🙏 [@premierleague]

@_izodlalaiTv It's the general consensus on life, people define you on one mistake, look at Maguire,he was horrendous for a while but has been a pillar, even the likes of Ngezane, he was making some costly mistakes but he is a top top defender, playing for Kaizer Chiefs is massive undertaking.

Miguel Inácio: High Contribution, High Risk📝 We often confuse a player’s mistakes with the idea that the player is terrible. We expect good players to be flawless, and the moment they slip, we downgrade them. That’s where the conversation around Miguel Inácio becomes complicated. Dont get me wrong, I also have question marks on his performance. But, my issue with Miguel starting for Kaizer Chiefs right now isn’t that he’s a bad defender. It’s that he makes big mistakes and likes picking yellow cards. In the last two CAF Confederation Cup matches, he committed major errors: two led directly to goals, and others only went unpunished because the goalkeeper rescued him: A missed clearance vs Al Masry for their winning goal, and then a poor clearance vs Zamalek that gifted them a goal inside 3 minutes. Just a minute later, he nearly cost us again with a risky back pass, but Petersen had to react quickly to clear the danger. Those moments are costly, and they matter. But those errors don’t erase how much he contributes overall. Miguel remains valuable because his influence stretches across multiple elements of our game. Whether it’s defensive actions, involvement out of possession, or his passing accuracy when we build from the back, he gives the team a lot. His physicality also helps neutralise troublesome strikers, both in the league and in continental competitions. He frustrates attackers who enjoy dominating weaker defenders. Against Zamalek alone, he had no interceptions — but his clearances, blocked shots, tackles, recoveries, and overall defensive contribution were far superior to those of Zitha Kwinika and the rest of the defence. He lost just 1 duel out of 5. Nobody else was close. Yes, Miguel made errors, but he also produced two massive clearances: one on the goal line and another that had already beaten the goalkeeper and was heading in. That’s why judging him requires looking at both the mistakes and the contributions. As much as Kwinika is a better 1v1 defender, Miguel wins more ground and aerial duels than Kwinika, which would justify why he keeps getting minutes. He’s in a similar situation to where Brandon Petersen was before this season. Petersen was always our best shot-stopper, but his silly mistakes made him a liability. This season, he has cut those errors out — and now he’s a critical piece of the team. He's not perfect because he still makes some blunders, but he has shown better recoveries this time. Miguel can follow the same path. Cut out the big mistakes and keep the high contribution. Then you’ve got a top defender. In many games, with his errors, he contributes more than all our defenders. He needs to find a way to lower the adrenaline rush and stop allowing the heat of moments control how he handles himself throughout the game.

Today, the Springboks delivered a stunning performance against Wales, running out 73‑0 winners at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. South Africa scored 11 tries, dominating in both attack and set pieces, while Wales struggled to respond. The win marked Wales’ worst-ever home defeat, capping off a flawless end-of-year tour for the Boks. However, the victory was slightly marred by a late red card for Eben Etzebeth, highlighting the need for discipline even in dominant displays.
