Know Your Opponent: FC Goa ✍️ : @Sourjya181 As East Bengal prepare for a crucial league encounter, all eyes turn to a resilient yet transitional FC Goa side led by the experienced tactician Manolo Marquez. The former Indian national team coach is a master strategist who understands Indian football inside out. Even in adversity, he knows how to organize his team and extract maximum output from limited resources. Financial Turbulence & Squad Shift This season hasn’t been smooth for Goa. Due to financial constraints, they were forced to part ways with four key foreign players, operating now with just two foreigners — Dejan drazic and Paul Moreno. Moreno has been solid at the back and even found the net against Mohammedan SC, proving he is more than just a defensive presence. Dejan, meanwhile, operates on a free role roaming centrally, drifting wide, often attacking the far post. He is their primary target man, and most attacking moves eventually look to find him in space. Midfield: The Weak Link? Here lies Goa’s biggest concern. The departure of borja herrera and more importantly david timor has already altered their structural balance over the years, and this season the midfield lacks authority and composure. Players like Sahil Tavora and Ayush Chhetri try to hold things together, but the control that Manolo prefers that perfect Indian-foreign blend — is missing. The zone 14 area (space between defensive midfield and centre-backs) often opens up. Opponents have found acres of space there, space East Bengal must exploit ruthlessly. Wing Play & Counter-Pressing Threat If the midfield lacks dominance, their flanks certainly don’t. Boris Singh (right-back) constantly pushes forward to deliver crosses. Akash Sangwan does the same from the left. Brison Fernandes is arguably one of the most dangerous Indian wingers right now , explosive pace, direct running, and capable of scoring against top sides. He must not be given a second of freedom. Ishan Pandita adds depth in attack and is still trying to rediscover his rhythm at the top level. Despite their possession issues, Goa are aggressive in counter-pressing. The moment you relax, they swarm. Sleep for a second lose the ball. That’s their identity this season. Recent Form Snapshot Conceded against Inter Kashi. Looked vulnerable against Mohammedan SC, who created multiple openings despite Goa winning 2-0. Narrow 1-0 win over SC Delhi. Scorelines flatter them. Structurally, they leave gaps. Clinical finishing from opponents could have changed those results drastically. *What This Means for East Bengal FC* Under Oscar Bruzon, East Bengal have the perfect tools to dominate the midfield battle. With Miguel Figueira pulling strings and Mohammed Rashid providing steel, control in the central third is non-negotiable. If Mahesh joins the midfield rotation, quality increases further. Up front, Youssef Ezzejjari as the primary target option must capitalize on deliveries. East Bengal finally has a striker who knows how to attack crosses and finish instinctively. The blueprint is simple: Attack through the middle. Exploit zone 14. Stretch them laterally but dominate centrally. Be clinical. Remember the Super Cup penalty heartbreak penalties are 50-50. Ninety minutes in the league are not. If East Bengal cannot control midfield against this version of Goa, questions must be asked. The space will be there. The chances will come. It’s about precision and ruthlessness. [Joy East Bengal, EBBU]

Know Your Opponents: Jamshedpur FC ✍️ : @Sourjya181 Not the flashiest team in the league, not the loudest either but definitely one of the most stubborn sides you’ll face this season. Jamshedpur FC under Owen Coyle are all about discipline, patience and grinding out results. They’ve started the season unbeaten. Two matches, two wins both 1-0. Sneaky? Maybe. Clinical? Absolutely. They don’t need five chances to score; one proper moment is enough. And once they go ahead, they make life extremely uncomfortable for the opponent. One big storyline is the presence of former East Bengal faces. Madih Talal and Raphael Messi Bouli will surely have something to prove. Even if they are not at their peak form right now, these are experienced players who can turn up on big nights. Motivation won’t be lacking. Defensively, Jamshedpur looks solid and compact. They don’t overcommit, they don’t rush. Their foreign defenders bring physicality and calmness at the back. In midfield, the experienced Pronay Halder adds steel and game awareness. He’s the kind of player who breaks rhythm and frustrates creative opponents. Going forward, they’re not reckless. They wait. They observe. They strike when you switch off. That’s their identity. It’s pragmatic football, but it works. Momentum is with them. Confidence is growing. And when a team believes that one goal is enough to win games, they become very dangerous. This won’t be easy. Jamshedpur is not here to entertain, they are here to compete, survive, and quietly take three points if you allow them. [Joy East Bengal, EBBU]
