@michaellunsford The Law Institute testified that this law would also apply to employees of tech companies, subjecting them to lawsuits for negligence for not exercising the vague “reasonable care.” Who would want to work in the tech industry in Louisiana with a law like that?

On a related note, the word “prohibit” appears in 479 bills filed thus far for Louisiana’s 2026 Regular Session. Is this limited government that promotes individual liberty? Or is it government knows best?

This week a #lalege Senate committee advanced a bill banning cell cultured meats in Louisiana, saying they know better than consumers. Even the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association says this is wrong. It’s not free market. It’s big government. beefmagazine.com/policy/fake-me…

Reminder: Last December, President Trump issued an exec order about new state AI laws. States that contribute to the growing patchwork of AI regulations, meddle in interstate commerce, & impede the U.S. winning the AI race will face consequences. #lalege whitehouse.gov/presidential-a…

When did "conservative" become synonymous with supporting government bans and protectionist policies? There's a lot happening that seems very odd for a "red" state.

See where other applications came from. [Source: LA Dept of Education] Urban, rural, communities with “good” public schools. Takeaway: Louisiana families want options for their kids’ education. One-size-fits-all doesn’t always work.

🚨Just in: The 2026-2027 LA GATOR 🐊 application cycle closed last night. The parish with the most applications was…drumroll 🥁…Jefferson Parish—with 3,008 applications. Nearly 17K eligible apps total. Will #lalege fund and deliver for these families?💰#schoolchoice

LA GATOR does not force private schools to be accredited by national/regional bodies that charge thousands of dollars and may push “values” that may be inconsistent with their own. Instead, schools must be approved by BESE. #lalege

Fact: About 1/5 of new LA GATOR students’ parents have elected to use funds to support a homebased education, purchasing allowable courses & services. That’s their right and their choice under the law. #lalege

LA GATOR isn’t a voucher program. It’s an ESA, which empowers families to decide what services will best fit the learning needs of their child—whether that’s private school tuition or coursework and learning materials for a home-based education. Trust parents! #lalege

If lawmakers want to make changes to those laws and regulations, they can, but let’s be clear — they exist today, and they’re unambiguous. See BESE Bulletin 133, section 1523.

The claim that LA GATOR “rules” are somehow in flux or undecided is inaccurate. The eligibility phases are in law. Program regulations, including priorities for available funding, have been in effect since December 2024. #lalege
