My friends and I are working on a paper, highlighting the barriers to surgical care in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). It will shock anyone who has not practiced in a poor resource setting like Nigeria, what these barriers look like.

Reading news without context is dangerous, seeing this in isolation you would applaud the army for their good work and be thankful for a quick resolution. But if you understand that the Nigerian army is disarming indigenous communities and exposing them to unchecked slaughter in the hands of Islamic Jihadists, you would rightly swear for them for the evil they are perpetuating.

TROOPS OF OPERATION ENDURING PEACE BUST ILLEGAL ARMS MANUFACTURING FACTORIES, ARREST SUSPECTS AND RECOVER CACHE OF ARMS IN PLATEAU STATE Troops of Quick Response Force (QRF), Operation ENDURING PEACE on Thursday, 7 May 2026, successfully busted 2 illegal arms manufacturing factories in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The well coordinated raid operation was part of the ongoing efforts by Operation ENDURING PEACE aimed at cutting off the supply chain of illicit firearms and safe guarding of law abiding citizens within its Joint Operations Area (JOA). The operation which was the result of a highly intensified, comprehensive human intelligence gathering and strategic surveillance led to the discovery of 2 illegal arms manufacturing sites. During the precision operation, troops arrested 5 suspects caught in the act of fabricating lethal weapons. A comprehensive search of the sites led to recovery of significant cache of weaponry and industrial equipment. Items recovered include, 9 fabricated AK 47 rifles, one locally fabricated pistol, 4 empty AK 47 magazines, 7 skeletal AK 47 rifles and 10 rifle butts. Other items recovered are 36 empty shells of 7.62mm special, 4 revolver engines, 14 recoiling springs, 6 hand drilling machines, 9 filing machines, 4 welding machines and assorted industrial equipment. Suspects and recovered items are currently in custody for further exploitation and detailed investigation. While troops are currently consolidating the ongoing covert operation in order to mop-up the remnants of arms and ammunition already in circulation, Operation ENDURING PEACE appreciates the support of the citizenry and urged them to be more vigilant and report suspicious activities of criminal elements to security agencies. PUBLIC APPEAL. EVERY MOMENT MATTERS, HELP FIND EUNICE AMEH. I deeply express my concern over the unfortunate disappearance of Miss Eunice Ameh, who was reportedly last seen on the 6th of May, 2026, at about 5:40 PM, shortly after the close of work around Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama, Abuja, while heading towards Life Camp. This development is both painful and deeply troubling, not only to her family and loved ones, but to all members of society who value human life, safety, and dignity. Incidents such as this remind us of the urgent need for vigilance, compassion, and collective responsibility within our communities. I hereby appeal to residents of Abuja and the general public to assist with any useful information that may aid efforts to locate Miss Eunice Ameh. No information is insignificant. Anyone who may have seen her, interacted with her, or observed anything unusual around the stated location and time is kindly urged to promptly contact the nearest security agency or reach out to her family. I also respectfully call on the relevant security authorities to intensify efforts towards ensuring her safe and immediate return. In situations like this, every passing moment matters. May we all stand together in humanity, empathy, and solidarity until Eunice Ameh is found safe and reunited with her family. Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, FCIArb (UK), Life Bencher Past General Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association.

I’ve not seen any country’s army that is as useless as the Nigerian army. Your comrades are murdered daily, you can’t do jackshit. People are being killed by terrorists, you can’t protect them. Only time you have power is against weak civilians. Shame on you!

You keep arresting people you cannot protect simply because they don’t have the government connections, while terrorists armed with heavy weapons are left untouched in their hideouts. Then, when you finally try to arrest some of them, you label them “repentant” and give them jobs. WE WATCHING!

The Nigerian Army can raid “gun factories” in Vom to arrest alleged gun runners and Berom militias, as Abdul and his WhatsApp are actively pushing the news. Yet they cannot carry out similar operations in Fulani settlements to arrest the armed terrorists who go to attack the same Berom villages at night to kill innocent people and families in their homes. WE ARE WATCHING WHATS GOING IN THIS COUNTRY, WE ARE WATCHING!!

A local church should be built on a confession and not on a man. Christians should gather around a creed and not a celebrity. Members of a church should be held together by a documented common faith not a leader's brand.
