@thedimitri Honestly, all I "see" any more are people running a scam. I used to be very into helping homeless in my youth. It took a while, but I finally caught on. They need mental help and to get off the drugs and alcohol, not a handout.

The first time I visited San Francisco, I was eating a burger on the patio of some fast casual spot when a homeless guy came up and asked me to buy him a burger and fries.
Normally I ignore it, but I was feeling generous. I went inside, ordered it, came back out, and handed it to him.
He opens the burger, sees onions, immediately starts yelling at me, and then throws the whole thing on the ground.
While he’s screaming about the onions, the owner comes out with a broom and chases him off.
That was the last time I ever went out of my way to buy a homeless person food.

When I was in my 20s, I hired a young man who was homeless and living in a car to help me with my lawn business. I paid him double minimum wage and made him lunch every day like I did for myself. He complained about the sandwich the first day, and no, he wasn't joking.
