@Pamsplants1 Not sure from the new growth. A few options but looks like the leaf shape changes as it matures so maybe wait a bit longer and try identify again.

@ebodley Hi, can you identify this plant for me, please? It’s at my nephew’s house in Titirangi, Auckland.

@BGANZ1 I’ve planted seed of Dactylanthus in ABG and still waiting to see if it works. Ca. Take up to 10 years so I’ve still got a few years to wait

Following on from last night's webinar, more fascinating facts about pollen and pollination — an underground flower pollinated by bats!
Let us know in the comments if you have seen or know of any plants like this in your local botanic garden.

If you missed the first webinar from @BGANZ1, it’s well worth a watch. There are lots of events this month to celebrate #botanicgardensday on the 26th May so keep an eye out for those.

Sixty four plants on the brink of extinction propagated at Ōtari Native Botanic Garden being collected by @docgovtnz rangers from Turangi for planting into the wild. This wetland plant has declined dramatically in recent years. Only a few Juncus holoschoenus remain in the wild

@ebodley @PlantPolyploidy @RareFlowerGrow Bush Gems is a series, the pink one on the right in your photo looks like 'Bush Pearl' which I always recommend! It is the hardiest of the series and flowers for most of the year 😊
English

@RareFlowerGrow Thank you! I don’t see them around much so I suspect they wouldn’t last long. Tempted to try one though. Those are beautiful colours.
English

@ebodley perfect drainage or they will rot, tell tale signs are blackening at base of plants - relatively drought hardy once established
The new Celebrations varieties are stunning but even fussier about drainage
