Pub news! Out now in Race Ethnicity & Education, I examine the motivations among Asian American parents who chose to enroll their children in metro Hartford’s magnet schools, which were created as part of a voluntary deseg program. 1/4 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

As part of @ct_ssn's column in @CTViewpoints, I wrote about the need for CT lawmakers to center Asian American students in school deseg and choice policies.
CT SSN Chapter@ct_ssn

Check out the newest #ScholarReflections by @ecastillophd from @trinitycollege on the “persistent invisibility of Asian American students” when lawmakers consider school desegregation efforts—and her thoughts on how to avoid Asian American erasure from CT’s education policy.

High school students and *Make Us Visible NJ* lobbied to have Asian American history taught in schools, and now it’s the law in New Jersey. Only 2 states in the country require Asian American history to be taught. 1 in 3 AAPI children report experiencing hate.
CeFaan Kim@CeFaanKim

According to @StopAAPIHate 1 in 3 #aapi parents say their children experienced anti-Asian hate this past school year. @chhng_ and @MakeUsVisibleNJ say education is the antidote to hate. #stopasianhate

A harbinger to the Hartford desegregation agreement reached last week? That plan also relies on suburban districts leaders voluntarily offering enrollment to city kids in their well funded schools. courant.com/news/connectic…

As a Filipina American ed policy scholar, I felt compelled to shine a light on the nuanced experiences and perspectives of Asian Americans in the context of K-12 school choice and desegregation. I welcome thoughts and feedback! 4/4

My study points to parents’ contradictory engagement with how Asian Ams are situated within US racial politics & build on research (@spamfriedrice @anthonyocampo @VivianT88 to name a few!) on the invisibility and racial ambiguity of Asian Ams in policy & political discourses. 3/4

Opinion: Sonia Lau, a Trinity College student, went the test-optional route when applying to college, opening many doors for her. Should all college have test-optional admissions policies? More on it here. #Echobox=1642084719-1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">ctmirror.org/category/ct-vi…
