De Guindos: Preparing for the digital euro, building the savings and investments union, and simplifying the regulatory and reporting frameworks, are crucial to ensuring financial stability and securing a prosperous economy for Europe.

De Guindos: We are focused on price stability. The war in the Middle East and the volatile energy markets are sources of uncertainty for the economy. We will remain data-dependent, take a meeting-by-meeting approach and monitor developments carefully.

De Guindos: Inflation averaged close to our 2% target in 2025. Thanks to our progress, we lowered the deposit facility rate by 100 basis points to 2% by mid-2025. We have continued reducing gradually the size of our balance sheet.

De Guindos: Euro area economy recovered moderately in 2025, despite a challenging global environment. Exports in the first quarter, domestic demand, a robust labour market and moderating inflation supported growth.
