Two years ago, Friedkin read my essay on SORCERER, and insisted that I call him. It was mind-blowingly kind of him.
What followed was a 2-hour phone call that was thrilling, hilarious, terrifying, confounding, and exhilarating.
Just like his films.

SOMEONE out there has to have cracked the code of getting three kids out the door in the morning AND two parents ready for work without tears, right? Is it really just “hire a nanny even though everyone is in school/daycare because you can’t do it any other way”?

Loved this thread & it made me think of Mr. Natale (my 9th grade English teacher who provided the first really enjoyable space for me in public school) & hope that I’ve been this teacher for even just ONE of my students in the past 18 years.

I was not a good high school student — my mother died the summer before my 9th grade year, and I really struggled. I got suspended often for fighting, for yelling at teachers. Not a lot of people in the building believed in me.
