“My passion is to help people.” 💙 During Malawi’s cholera outbreak, Patricia became a @MalawiRedCross volunteer, teaching how better hygiene can prevent the disease. With EU support, health stations were set up directly in affected villages - helping contain the outbreak.

Since Dec 2025, renewed violence in South Sudan has forced tens of thousands to flee to Ethiopia. At the same time, floods & landslides in southern Ethiopia have killed 131 people and affected 14,000+. Today, I debriefed @Europarl_EN on my mission to the Great Lakes. In Goma, I called for respect for IHL, the protection of civilians & aid workers & full humanitarian access. My mission was to listen, secure concrete commitments & above all, deliver results. And we did.

Last year, we were the largest humanitarian donor in DRC. This year, we’ve already allocated €81M+ for food, healthcare, shelter & protection across the Great Lakes region, including airlifts. Aid alone cannot solve this crisis. The only solution for peace is a political one.

A choice no parent should ever have to make. After years as a South Sudanese refugee in Sudan, Achuei was forced to send her 6 children away alone when war broke out. 1/3 🧵

The escalating violence in South Sudan has triggered mass displacement, with spillovers to Ethiopia. In the past 2 months, we estimate that over 300,000 people have been exposed to violence The EU reacts: €1.2 MIL. emergency funding to assist the people affected.
