@echodroff Hi Prof. Chodroff, Your corpus of >500 spoken languages remains a vital resource. I'd like to extend with a field-theoretic model of semantic dynamics. Would you consider sharing access to the transcribed text data (even a subset) to validate cross-tier universals ?

A major hurdle in data-driven research on typology is having sufficient data in a large number of languages to draw meaningful conclusions. Our #acl2020nlp paper presents the largest spoken corpus to date with aligned phonological segments and phonetic measures for >500 languages

🤯 Speech Universal Uncovered! 🎤 We analyzed over 60,000 speakers across 75 languages and confirmed a universal phonetic bias: High vowels (like /i, u/) are consistently spoken with a slightly higher pitch (F0) than low vowels (/a/).

The differences are small but consistent in direction, supporting a biomechanical account critically tied to uniform phonetic targets across vowels. At the same time, variation in effect size across languages suggests speakers differ in how strongly this uniformity is realized
