In a widely-unread seminal book written by the great Australian Architect Robin Boyd, he nailed the Australian character as "cruel but kind." This was in 1960. Still applies today. Shameful.

Peter Malinauskas is reclaiming the definition of ‘Patriotism’ away from the jingoism of drunken rednecks, in favour of the Henry Lawson tradition of welcoming the stranger and building a more compassionate society. More please.

I would like to remind the British people that in 1994 the Mossad bombed the Israeli embassy in the UK. The MI5 confirmed this happened, and then hid the report. It’s still hidden until today. Brits, now as more important than ever: Ask your government to release the report.

Truth in political advertising rules & Lobbying reform are both necessary if we are to have any hope of restoring trust in politics & and ensuring people feel genuinely represented. So why are the major parties putting self interest and vested interests ahead of the interests of the Australian people and our democracy? I have bills in the senate to implement both of these, in line with what I've been hearing from people in the ACT. @abcnews abc.net.au/news/2026-03-2…

If you’re writing the laws, you shouldn’t be playing the market. This is basic stuff. I have a bill that finally bans members of Congress from trading stocks. No loopholes. No exceptions.

@Lowkey0nline Great spot! The people Israel calls terrorists refer to them as the "Zionist Entity". But also: - It doesn't start or end with any religious invocation - the "target" is so over-researched, like they would really care about this rabbi nobody knows This is Mossad intern slop.

Dear journalists, please start challenging One Nations record rather than showcasing them. How do they go at senate estimates? How often does Pauline turn up? How often has she flown on Gina’s plane? Why Mar a Lago? The list goes on #abc730

The defence editor at @TheEconomist admits the 'beheaded babies' story he promoted, and which was widely used to justify Israel's atrocities against Palestine, was fraudulent. Are our journalist class just credulous little babies, or do they lie to order for Israel? #ItWasAScam

@LtalbotAus Labor has cleaned up a lot of fraud that was left to flourish under the former Coalition government. In her old age, Pauline Hanson might have forgotten that she has already praised Labor for this effort, before she attacked people with disabilities today.

The media and RW social media pundits are living in an alternate reality that they are trying really hard to project into mainstream numpty universe - where the truth is optional and flooding the zone with batsh*t kookalala is mandatory. I’ve never seen so much crapola floating down de-Nile in my life as the continued successes of Labor wins are overwritten and overshadowed by this apparent “orange tsunami” that in reality is amounting to little more than a trickle of 3 or 4 seats that will more than likely morph into disgruntled Independents as the rot sets in and the One Nation reality bites the ass of their hapless and blinkered MPs - who suddenly realise that toeing the One Nation line no longer reflects their own political ideologies. The media and online tu*rd tinselling continues - because the media and online entities are largely bought and paid for by the elites, the billionaires, the mining and fossil fuel donors who seek to influence opinion and change voting habits through saturating the gullible with misinformation. This has a more limiting effect here than it does in the US due to the differences in our voting system, our compulsory voting and our preference flows. The 20-odd percent that appears to be the hagrid’s crowning achievement and the media’s mainstay of apparent merit is NOT equating to seats for One Nation. What it is doing is shifting the dynamic of voting intent of those who are continually stirred up by the media’s longstanding culture wars and fear mongering for the specific purpose of influencing the numbers for the hagrid’s opportunistic political populism. What it is NOT doing is shifting votes from Labor, the Greens and progressive Independents. It’s certainly stirring up the Liberal base though and dividing what is left of the centre right and the hard right libs as they move even further to the right in an attempt to limit their vote bleed to One Nation. That 20-odd percent is more of a shift from that base. In South Australia Labor gained seats. A small vote bleed from Labor shifted to the Greens and Independents. One Nation is therefore having minimal impact on Labor - and in fact is likely helping Labor dominate the electoral landscape. So, when the media continue to clickbait their MASSIVE “orange tsunami” - remember who the drivers are of that fairy story. Because I am not seeing the sentiment being reflected in the outcomes. As opposed to 1998 in the QLD state election with the same percentages for One Nation where they won 11 seats and enabled a new Labor state government - 3 or 4 seats in the SA state election is small potatoes. Ironically, the overtly partisan media continues to ignore the massive South Australian Labor majority that absolutely stonked the Liberal Party and dwarfed any other contenders - because it is largely a continuation of the RW strategy to reduce the impact and importance that the Labor Party continues to bring to governance. The underlying message here is - don’t trust that the media are here for your best interests. They are here for their own interests and at the behest of their many vested elite interests. Which don’t include the batters and the vulnerable folks they continue to suck into their toxic vortex. It has nothing to do with truth, fact, political commonsense or democracy and everything to do with power, control and the grifting of the trough.

Andrew Hastie says we should be “very worried” about Trump’s war on Iran bcoz Australians are suffering the impacts. Asked if the war should end, Hastie “I don’t know” 🙄 Wouldn’t it be nice if ABC invited guests who ‘know’ things? #auspol

Want to talk about problems with democracy, Lex? Still waiting for you to detail why you bugged Timor Leste's cabinet for Woodside.

@BernardKeane You’re part of the problem with current democracy. You’re strong on personal abuse but that’s it. I haven’t given any public advice just analysis of why people in SA vote ON. But you know more about my State than I do I guess

The LNP interject constantly, and The Speaker finally boots one of them. Chris Bowen reminds parliament that (as energy minister) Angus Taylor would be still begging for the fuel he stored in Texas with "Houston ... we have a problem" #qt

In a crowded field, @AlexanderDowner's take on the SA election has to be one of the dumbest comment pieces I've seen for a while. The bloke has to be the thickest parliamentary superannuation going. But keep on with the "Libs aren't right wing enough" stuff, it's working wonders.
