Some good news this Sunday. I have been named an @echoinggreen Fellow. I often struggle to announce accolades like this, but I’m reminded that it’s okay to blow your trumpet once in a while and grab the attention of the world to share more about the incredible work we do at @synnefa_KE to improve incomes for farmers. This award matters deeply for the work we are doing to improve farmers’ incomes. Farmers are at the heart of everything we do, and we obsess over how our solutions can better serve them. I travel to New York this coming week to meet like minded individuals and organizations driven by similar values and interests. We have spent millions of dollars across Africa trying to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Africa and the progress is there but are we really seeing them rise out of poverty? This is the real north star and we have a strategy to one day say yes, we did it. We improved incomes for 1,000,000 farmers🌱 in Africa and truly got them to escape poverty. Having a moment to discuss what’s been working and what hasn’t is a chance to allow the narrative to change in the coming decade. A chance to self reflect and really acknowledge what needs to be done different to truly transform the livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers in Africa. I get back from New York and join all the other amazing fellows in Accra, Ghana to learn about all their incredible work to truly bring change to the lives of millions of people around the world. Selected from a global pool of 2,100 applicants, these Fellows represent a new wave of the best and brightest social innovators. Together, these leaders are launching innovative solutions to drive transformative change for millions throughout the world.
