HEC c'est l'exemple parfait de ce que Bourdieu appelait la reproduction des élites déguisée en méritocratie, on sélectionne sur 2 ans de prépa ECG accessible structurellement aux enfants des classes éduquées, on filtre par la dissertation de culture générale et l'oral d'économie c'est à dire par des épreuves qui mesurent l'incorporation familiale d'un capital culturel pas une intelligence brute le haut potentiel HEC n'existe pas comme catégorie cognitive, ce sont en réalité des jeunes qui ont eu accès à deslivres dans la bibliothèque familiale dès 8 ans m, qui ont entendu papa et maman parler du monde des affaires en boucle pendant 18 ans et qui ont fait 2 années de prépa intensive avec des cours particuliers à 50 euros de l'heure, donner le label haut potentiel à ça c'est confondre l'héritage culturel avec le talent inné, c'est exactement le coup de magie sociologique sur lequel repose toute la méritocratie française depuis 1958 la véritable définition d'HEC c’est la maîtrise inconsciente d’un code social bourgeois, savoir parler vite avec les bonnes référence, évoquer ses vacances en bretagne sans en faire trop… mais c’est surtout une certification de conformité sociale pour les futurs cadres dirigeants des groupes hérités du 20e siècle, on garantit aux recruteurs du CAC40 que le candidat saura porter un costume, parler anglais avec un accent acceptable & dîner avec les actionnaires et reproduire fidèlement les codes de la bourgeoisie d'affaires française, c'est une compétence énorme dans son monde à elle mais c'est strictement l'opposé de ce qu'on appelle un haut potentiel cognitif encore une fois ce sont des compétences réelles dans un certain monde (archaïque) mais comme je l’ai souvent dit ici elles n’ont strictement rien à voir avec ce qu’il faut pour construire byd, huawei, deepseek ou une vraie civilisation industrielle, c’est pour ça qu’HEC produit en boucle des consultants, des banquiers d’affaires et des directeurs marketing et jamais des fondateurs de boîtes hardware avec une vision géostratégique À TRÈS LONG TERME

Non, je plaisante, il écrit au ministre pour interdire la fête du cochon du Canon Français, car, pour ce crétin, c'est là que se trouve le danger fasciste. Palantir, il ne sait même pas ce que c'est et il n'a jamais entendu parler du Manifeste. Putin's press conference yesterday was interesting because it highlighted his deep feeling of anger and betrayal by Europe. (1) He reminded the journalists (all Russians) that the crisis began with the EU insisting Ukraine ratify an Association Agreement incompatible with Ukraine's free trade agreement with Russia. When Ukraine demurred the Maidan coup was the result; (2) He said Europe's objective in 2022 was to engineer Russia's collapse so that the Europeans would be able to help themselves to its parts. In a truly extraordinary passage he spoke of Finland joining NATO in order to participate in the plunder; (3) He gave a very bitter account of the events of April 2022 and of the failure of the Istanbul Agreement. Briefly: He revealed for the first time that it was Macron who called him and tricked him into pulling Russian troops back from Kiev, telling him that "the Ukrainians could not be expected (to sign the Istanbul Agreement) with a gun pointing at their head". He was careful to say that the Russians recorded the conversation and have Macron saying all this on tape. He then spoke about how, once the Russian troops had been withdrawn, 'another colourful character' - Boris Johnson - told the Ukrainians to ditch the Istanbul Agreement in return for unlimited Western support. I came away with the clear impression that Putin believes Macron and Johnson were working together and had it all worked out in advance; (4) he accused the Europeans of using Ukraine as a proxy in their conflict with Russia; (5) he signalled that the only major West European political figure in whom he retains any trust is Gerhard Schroder, who is of course out of power; (6) Contrary to many reports, Putin did NOT say that he believes the Ukraine conflict is coming to an end. This belief stems from misreporting of his words by a TASS journalist. If Putin's words are read carefully it is clear his meaning was quite different. It is that with the failure to bring about the collapse of Russia that which on The Duran we call 'Project Ukraine', ie. the West's (in Putin's view, Europe's) bid to use Ukraine as a tool to destabilise Russia, is coming to an end. Perhaps wrongly, Putin appears to blame the Europeans more for 'Project Ukraine' than he does the Americans. (7) Putin did float the possibility that with the failure of Project Ukraine, and with the crisis this has caused in Europe, a new generation of European leaders might find a way back towards a reconciliation with Russia. However he did not seem to me to say this with much conviction; (8) As for the Americans, Putin appears to think that their various diplomatic initiatives of the last year to end the war have run into a wall and are effectively over. Many people will say that Putin has a paranoid view of Europe and its intentions. He however would point to Europe's actions (eg. he spoke about Europe's work fabricating Ukraine's drones) and its rhetoric, which is frankly terrible. Certainly in Russia his opinions are widely shared. This is where in Europe relentless hostility, extreme rhetoric, and a total rejection of dialogue with the Russians, has led us. Every year, this has to be the one report I look forward to the most: the Democracy Perception Index, compiled by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation (in partnership with Nita Data). In fact, my yearly thread on the report is apparently such a tradition that, this year, its lead researcher personally sent me the report with this message: "every year, I look forward to your thread about it!". That's how you start wondering whether you tweet too much 😅 Why do I like this report so much? A few reasons: 1) The Alliance of Democracies Foundation, the organization behind the report, cannot even remotely be suspected of being some sort of anti-West outlet: it was started by an ex-NATO Secretary General (Anders Fogh Rasmussen) and its stated purpose is "to unite world democracies" 2) It's surprisingly honest and the methodology is actually democratic. Unlike other reports on democracy the scoring isn't done by the report's authors (like the report by Freedom House or The Economist's "Democracy Index"). It simply asks people what they think and, when it comes to democracy, that's kind of the point 🤷‍♂️ 3) I love the expression "perception is reality" because, like it or not, what people believe about their system is what determines its legitimacy. A democracy that nobody actually experiences as one can't credibly claim to be one. And conversely, a so-called "autocracy" that its people overwhelmingly believe is actually a democracy might... actually be a democracy. Anyhow, this year's edition did not disappoint. NATO was always destined to be a temporary military alliance, united by a common enemy and threat during the Cold War. Once that threat disappeared with the end of the Cold War and thereafter the collapse of the Soviet Union, the main question asked in the 1990s was: What would be NATO’s new reason to exist? The answer to this question was to pursue unipolarity / collective hegemony in the post-Cold War era through NATO expansionism and military interventionism. Russia was implicitly given the ultimatum: be a compliant civilizational student or a counter-civilizational force. Russia could accept NATO's hegemonic role as a “force for good,” or it could resist, and then NATO would return to its former role of confronting Russia. The NATO-backed regime change in Ukraine—aimed at transforming the country from a Russian partner into a frontline state aligned against Russia— triggered the war in 2014. NATO thus began reverting to its former role of confronting Russia, yet it happened as the hegemonic era had come to an end. Now that the former collective hegemony has been balanced and a multipolar world has emerged, NATO has yet again lost its purpose and will disintegrate. European leaders want to restore NATO’s original purpose: containing Russia. This will fail because it is based on the fraudulent narrative that Russia wants to restore the Soviet Union, rather than balancing NATO expansionism and military interventionism. The US will, however, not return to the original purpose of NATO as the distribution of power has shifted, and will therefore not play along with the fake narratives of Europeans leaders. The US is in relative decline and cannot sustain simultaneous strategic dominance in Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, and the Western Hemisphere. The US cannot be everywhere in a multipolar world, and it will pivot to the Western Hemisphere and East Asia. A US presence in Europe consumes too many resources and pushes Russia toward China, its main rival. However, the US is happy to outsource the conflict with Russia to the Europeans. Europe remains obedient, and Russia is weakened. If Europe had rational leaders, they would have adjusted to the new international distribution of power by shutting this war down, making peace with Russia, establishing a common pan-European security architecture (35 years too late) that also saves Ukraine by removing it from the front lines of a re-divided Europe, and diversifying their economic ties to avoid excessive dependence on any one foreign power. However, Europe does not have rational leaders, and even arguing that weapons are not the path to peace or arguing in favour of diplomacy is smeared and censored as “pro-Russian” treason. Europe’s political class remains committed to Russophobic narratives and policies that intensify confrontation and prolong the conflict. The trajectory now appears increasingly clear: NATO will continue to disintegrate, and the Europeans will compensate by further escalating the war against Russia. This will happen at a time when Russia is desperate to restore its deterrence by retaliating against Europe (most predictably against Germany), while the US commitment and protection of Europe are waning. The predictable consequence is that European leaders will eventually provoke a powerful response from Russia, which will rapidly escalate to what will hopefully only be a limited nuclear strike. glenndiesen.substack.com/p/a-prediction…
