@econpilled I Agree, my take was more simplistic. I am not really a fan of so called “agents” - but wanted to create something to automate a process. Got frustrated with co-work snd just mapped the files with a simple script.

Someone said agents are just Python workflows. So I opened a .py file, loaded some scripts, and apparently I’ve built an agent now 😅
A lot of “AI agents” are basically:
Python workflows + LLM calls + tools + memory + decision logic.

@data_barbs That is close to the useful definition. A workflow becomes an operator when it has durable state, scoped tools, decision rules, receipts, and a stop condition. The LLM call is not the agent. The operating loop around it is.

@data_barbs It’s a conversation I have to have with grads every so often at work when they bring some nonsense they’ve cooked up on Claude code which sounds good on premise but ask them about data principles and GDPR and it falls apart even before it reaches IT for testing

Mississippi… yeah the lowest earning state in the whole of America… how far we have fallen in the space of 19 years. Let’s also not forget the average cost of living is lower in the US vs the UK.
