Just presented my thesis (to date) in 3 minutes with just one PowerPoint slide. 180 seconds to share how my research is significant, impactful, and showing advancement in the field of trauma. What an adrenaline rush! Thank you for the opportunity @UCLBrainScience

@eugenemcfadden Let me know if this works: doi:10.1007/s10964-014-0103-1.Monahan et al. (2014).From the school yard to the squad car:school discipline, truancy, & arrest. I'm not saying a direct causal link is 'proven',but it's 1 factor that we have control over&other methods work better is all

Why am I not surprised!! This is beyond school-to-prison pipeline.. this is bringing prison-culture into school 😵 more than ever we need to amplify the evidence that relationships and problem solving methods work!! And elevate the schools engaging in empathic, restorative work

Excl: East London school admits some of its methods are ‘completely unacceptable’ after our investigation reveals pupils are referred to as ‘detainees.’ And - staff were given a handbook revealing sexist directives, described by CEO of the school’s trust as ‘from the 70s.’

@AcademicChatter Especially when getting reimbursed then requires a series of hoop jumping and form filling, on top of the crazy workloads!

@steve_mcnichol @eugenemcfadden And this is exactly why I asked to see the "opposing" evidence and was told there is none... you are right to say that proving scientificy causation in applied setting is incredibly hard but when the correlations are strong and there are alternatives I'd rather err on caution..

"See a chid differently, you see a different child" When working with children, we can reframe the way we think about behaviour to understand what a child is trying to communicate to us. #edutwitter #growthmindset

@chipping_mr I don't this it is at all necessary to give a specific label to a child in that way.. whay goal is it reaching? Will an adult be confused if the term student is used?

Anonymous question "I'm in 2nd yr of my PhD & my partner & I would like to have a baby. We think now is a good time because it means I can take advantage of maternity leave & work flexibility. What do other PhD parents think?"
