Not sure I've seen this yet: I made a comparison of the old #Hubble composite image of SMACS 0723 (B&W) fading to the new #JWST image! Actually surprising how similar they are! The real difference comes from the exquisite level of detail you can now see in every little galaxy.

wut. I've always just said "natural log". If I'm reading an equation very literally I spell it out as "L-N". Though it has surprised me in ~7 years of teaching to see how often students see "log" and assume *natural* log. When did "log = base 10" stop being the default?

@c_dan4th Basically Putin needs a good distraction/rallying cry from issues at home, a grudge about Pres Clinton breaking security guarantees in the 90s, desire for USSR-like relevance, & good pretext for invading Estonia/Lithuania next to secure Kaliningrad access

@c_dan4th What's odd is that before Putin has been much shrewder and a master of strategy. This crisis feels more like he's suffering from mental health issues from lockdown and is irrationally re-using strategies that actually started wars that quickly escalated beyond original intent/aim

@gabor Alternative hypothesis- this has always been going on and what has changed is the narrative arc we tell ourselves about successful startups swung from "grit, speed & ramen" to "Sistine chapel"

The common examples cited for the latter are Notion and Robinhood.
