@eddablin Hi Ed. There’s no tongue and groove, and from memory the panel is actually 3 layers of timber with the middle layer planks running vertically. Adds lots of friction damping to the system. As far as I know it’s all still original. Last time I saw it it needed a good clean.

@DoncasterDome This unusually long, wrought-iron pedestrian railway footbridge in Hindley, Greater Manchester, dates from 1887. It was built during the peak period of railway bridge construction and spanned nine tracks, with a large ramp on the south side rather than steps leading up to it.

@TheHappyPontist It looks reminiscent of the bridge that failed too to me. I can't see there being much trust in this bridge.

@BillHarvey2 Yes I thought that too. A possible strengthening but would seem quite narrow. Steel parapets on a plinth also seemed modern.

Holiday bridge spotting. Devils bridge at the end of the Vale of Rheidol Railway. 3 constructions on top of each other over a ravine. 11th century. 1708. 1901. Challenging and impressive and the longevity of the first!

@eddablin Very far from convinced by 11th century date. Was that a local sign board?
