@eddablin Hi Ed. There’s no tongue and groove, and from memory the panel is actually 3 layers of timber with the middle layer planks running vertically. Adds lots of friction damping to the system. As far as I know it’s all still original. Last time I saw it it needed a good clean.

@DoncasterDome This unusually long, wrought-iron pedestrian railway footbridge in Hindley, Greater Manchester, dates from 1887.
It was built during the peak period of railway bridge construction and spanned nine tracks, with a large ramp on the south side rather than steps leading up to it.

If you want to see the value of infilling watch these two clips carefully. The stone moves past the brick which is supposed to be supporting it.

@BillHarvey2 Yes I thought that too. A possible strengthening but would seem quite narrow. Steel parapets on a plinth also seemed modern.
