With the addition of @eddaviel our 13AM collective yesterday, we’re excited to announce that we now have representation from the Dominican Republic, bringing us to 64 of the 195 listed nationalities! For those that missed our prior post, at 13AM, we take immense pride in our diversity—not only in terms of skill sets but also in our mission to showcase true global representation. Through 13AM Studio, we currently work with artists from nearly 70 nationalities, and our ambitious goal is to eventually represent every country in the world, becoming the first brand in history to do so! Initially, we’re aiming to include 195 nationalities as listed by the UN, but our vision doesn’t stop there. Once this milestone is achieved, we plan to expand even further, highlighting underrepresented nations and cultures to promote even greater awareness and inclusion. Our belief is that by celebrating diversity and championing global collaboration—especially in a world where negativity too often prevails—we can demonstrate that creativity and art transcend borders. We aspire to be a beacon of global diversity, a vibrant melting pot of styles and cultures. This is what makes the 13AM community so unique. Once we achieve our initial target of representing all 195 nationalities, we’ll launch a series of events, exhibitions, and exciting ventures to share these stories with the world. Through these initiatives, we’ll tick off several world firsts, thanks to our thriving creative community. Already over 170 members strong and boasting a combined following of over 4 million on Instagram alone, our collective includes some of the most respected names in art, design, photography and more. Meet the Team. Artist 173 - @eddaviel Eddaviel is a multidisciplinary artist and co-founder of the think tank and publishing house, Mentes Extremófilas. A graduate of the Faculty of Arts at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, his work spans a wide array of educational, cultural, and artistic collaborations, both public and private. Recognised for his creative contributions, Eddaviel was honored as a Distinguished Son by the Barahona City Council in 2015. His art has been showcased across the globe, including in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Argentina, the United States, Sweden, France, and more. His participation in major events, such as Afropunk Paris and the Caribbean Science Fiction and Fantasy Congress, demonstrates his standing as a key figure in the global artistic landscape. Eddaviel’s projects reflect his deep commitment to exploring the intersection of culture, identity, and storytelling. Notable works include his role in character design and animation for the film Azul Magia, and his exhibitions such as Greñapunk, which have toured major galleries in the United States and Puerto Rico. He co-created Somnium, an immersive multimedia project blending art and technology, pushing the boundaries of modern artistic experiences. With its innovative approach, Somnium has garnered critical acclaim and won the Innovation in the Arts Award from the Rockford Area Arts Council in 2022. Through his work with Mentes Extremófilas, Eddaviel has also made significant contributions to publishing, producing award-winning graphic novels and art books that highlight Afro-Latino-Caribbean heritage. His art, a fusion of magical realism and surreal pop, brings to life the rich, multicolored tapestry of the Caribbean experience, raising awareness of the political, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of Afro-Latino identity.
